Below is a sample of the emails you can expect to receive when signed up to NSLI for Youth.
Thank you for your interest in the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y)! We are sharing a reminder that the application deadline for the 2021-22 NSLI-Y program is fast approaching. Student applications are due by 4pm Eastern Time on Thursday, November 5. Applicants should also keep in mind the following application requirements and corresponding deadlines:
Official High School Transcripts submitted via postal mail or upload by November 5
Signed Terms and Conditions submitted via postal mail or upload by November 5
Recommendations due by 4pm ET on November 10
Parent/Legal Guardian Statements due by 4pm ET on November 10
Students can track the status of their uploaded documents by navigating to the appropriate sections in their application and viewing the status history box. NSLI-Y administration is not able to confirm receipt of mailed-in documents.

NSLI-Y is a U.S. Department of State program that provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students and recent high school graduates to learn less commonly taught languages in intensive summer and academic year overseas immersion programs. Scholarships are available for the following programs:
