The Place Telford needs you...
Since March The Place Telford has been unable to host
the wide range of live entertainment that was programmed for 2020. The entertainment industry, venues, artists and our loyal audiences have all
been effected by the current COVID pandemic.
Government advice suggests that social distancing will be in
place for the foreseeable future and with this in mind The Place Telford is developing a socially distanced seating plan, full COVID risk
assessment and procedures to bring back a range of varied live
COVID-safe performances.
Please help us in our quest to reopen the theatre by letting us know how you feel about it - just click the button below.
We are nothing without our audience...
We want nothing more than to have you in the seats and the performers on the stage, and your feedback will help us make that happen! Thank you for your support.

December 2020
It feels very strange not to be in the full throes of pantomime at this point in the year.
Ordinarily we'd have welcomed around 5,500 of our borough's schoolchildren
for their annual boos-and-cheers outing and the theatre would now be buzzing
with the excitement of families including a trip to the pantomime in their
festive break.
We admit to feeling a little bit flat, and if you're missing
panto too why not head over to our YouTube channel and revive your memories of pantos-past in our Panto Playlist? You'll find lots of other videos there -
hopefully some will be your favourite shows and will remind you of the great
entertainment waiting in the wings for when we reopen. Tickets to a fantastic
theatre show always make a great gift, so do keep your keep your loved ones in
mind!
We appreciate you may not want to rush to book tickets for
shows right now. There is still a lot of uncertainty about when venues can
reopen fully and visiting shows resume touring. Please rest assured that if you
have booked for a show which is then rescheduled you'll have the choice of
keeping your tickets for the new date or a full refund. More information can be found in our FAQs section.
As we''re not rushed off our feet with panto
we've had time to reflect on the amazing range of wonderful entertainment
our venue has hosted over the years - and most of us have been here long enough
to remember a lot of it! Here's a just-for-fun quiz to see how much you
remember.
Which champion jockey opened the venue in 1968 and what was
it called then?
Which Strictly Come Dancing pro appeared in the 2012
production of Cinderella?
Which British glam rock band performed here at their peak in
1972?
Which comedian brought his Rock With Laughter show for a
sell-out 2-night run in 2016?
Central News weatherman Des Coleman appears annually in
which popular show?
Popular entertainer Neil Sands, who brings his lovely nostalgia show to the theatre twice a year, was what before he became a show producer?
Which Harry Potter star narrated a Telford Schools show here
in 2017?
Which rock legend performed under a different name here on
27 November 1999?
Which former Big Brother housemate starred in Sleeping
Beauty in 2004?
Which former world champions appeared here in 2012 as part
of the Snooker Legends tour?
We'll let you know the answers in our next newsletter.
And what else are we doing?
Many
of you will be aware that the theatre has been temporarily repurposed as a
Covid Rapid Test Site. We've all had training in various aspects of the Rapid
Tests process and are glad to be back in the workplace even though the work is
very different. Venue Management is very proud of the team's capacity to adapt
to change and support this important work.
While it will be a very strange Christmas we're very much
looking forward to good news for venues and audiences as New Year gets
underway. Surely it won't be very much longer before we can welcome you back to
our lovely theatre for some terrific entertainment; we can't wait to say 'it's
behind us'.
We hope you have a lovely Christmas and will
look forward to seeing you next year - oh yes we will!.
