UPDATE ON COLLEGIATE DECA ICDC 2020
DECA Inc. has continued to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely and has considered the many concerns raised by our members, advisors, school officials and parents. There is no higher priority than the health, safety and well-being of everyone involved in DECA''s International Career Development Conferences (ICDCs). Based on recent events and out of an abundance of caution, DECA Inc. regretfully announces that the 2020 DECA International Career Development Conference in Nashville and the Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference in Atlanta will be canceled.
The DECA Inc. Board of Directors and staff recognize the importance of this culminating event for our DECA members who have academically prepared themselves for the opportunity to participate in our competitive events program and our emerging leader series. Every step of the way, DECA advisors have dedicated countless hours to guiding and supporting our members'' educational journeys, both inside and outside the classroom.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding this pandemic, the state of emergency in Tennessee and the fact that many school districts, colleges and universities have closed for the indefinite future, DECA Inc. will not reschedule this year''s ICDCs and will halt the competitive events process for the school year.
This decision was made out of necessity for the health, safety and well-being not only of our members and partners but also for the global community. Thank you for your understanding and continued support through these unprecedented times. We know all involved in DECA are doing their part to protect our communities and working together so we can keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.
