We hope you had a great Labor Day this weekend! While many people use the holiday as an excuse for grilling or playing on the beach, the origins of Labor Day are a mystery to most. Here are a few fun facts about the holiday.

1.   While many States already celebrated Labor Day independently, it was
      officially made a Federal holiday in 1894.

2.   Labor Day came out of the 19th century organized labor movement,
      which empowered workers through unions. What started as a collection
      of parades for union workers has become a nationwide holiday honoring
      American workers!

3.   Where did the "no wearing white after Labor Day" rule come from? 
      It's a remnant of Victorian times, when it was considered a faux pas to 
      wear white after Summer's end. When Labor Day became the unofficial
      end of Summer, the rule stuck!

We've just turned the corner into Fall, which means the holiday season is fast approaching! Many businesses start looking for seasonal employees at the end of October. Here are some seasonal gigs to look for if you're in the market to get hired quickly.

Seasonal Recruiters: Increased hiring comes with increased need for recruiters. Seasonal recruiters can make upwards of $25/hour

Customer Service Representatives: Large department stores hire customer service reps in bulk during the holidays. You can get paid $15/hour or more to handle requests by phone and email.

Retail: Let's face it—retail is the biggest seasonal job of the holidays. Companies need employees so badly they will often pay higher than average wages with overtime bonuses. These jobs are never in short supply.
