Hello Steven,
We are launching an urgent appeal to fund research into COVID-19 and its impact on children.
Whilst research is underway to help understand the disease in adults, there is a huge gap in the research specifically focusing on children and how the virus and pandemic affects them.
Parents are living in fear of the unknown with many unanswered questions that need tackling: Why do some children with COVID-19 get so sick and others don't? What are the long-term effects of this condition for my child? How will COVID-19 affect my child's mental health?
We must not forget about children in the fight against this pandemic.
That's why we've launched our COVID-19 children's research appeal to raise over ?1 million to fund new, high quality research to help understand the impact COVID-19 is having specifically on children.
This is an extraordinary call for research, but we need your help to make it happen. The amount of research we are able to fund into COVID-19 depends entirely on how much we raise from this appeal. ?

ACTION EMERGENCY APPEAL?
Dear Steven,
As you would expect, we are doing all we can as a charity to continue funding medical research for sick and vulnerable babies and children, in the face of the?rapidly-unfolding?coronavirus threat.?
Already?in the UK, there are hundreds of thousands of sick and disabled babies, children and young people, affected by a range of?devastating?physical and mental conditions.??
Whilst the?world is?turned upside down by coronavirus,?these?children and families?still?need our help?- now and always?- to develop treatments, vaccinations and cures?that could save lives. Research can bring hope to these families.?
As a charity that receives no government funding, our ability to fund this vital research relies entirely on voluntary support. And much of our income comes from events that people take part in. With so many?of these?events?now having to be cancelled,?we know we have a big gap to fill, urgently.? And?so?we need your help now more than ever.?
A research project?can?cost around ?220,000.?Can you help us now and ensure we continue to fund vital research for sick babies and children?
Children like?Ella who was born six weeks early leaving her vulnerable to infection. Ella fell ill with what at first seemed to be a simple cold, but soon turned into a fight for life. She was rushed to hospital with a severe case of bronchiolitis, a potentially?life threatening?lung infection.?
We are funding research searching for effective treatments to fight this infection, giving hope to families like Ella's.?
Please give what you can now. Any gift large or small will help us get closer to this important target.??
Please help us continue to fund research for vulnerable children
With your help we can fight back and save and change children's lives - now and always.?
Yours sincerely,
Julie Buckler?

New research: protecting against peanut allergy
We're delighted to be funding new research for children with peanut allergy - a condition that has been increasing in recent decades. A new type of treatment,?called oral immunotherapy,?can help. But not all children can tolerate its current form. Dr Sharanya Nagendran will test an alternative approach. She hopes to boost the safety and long-term effectiveness of treatment, helping more families live without fear of a life-threatening reaction.

Action is funding research that hopes to add to emerging treatment strategies for this devastating and life-limiting rare disease - we cannot do this without your help. Please donate if you can.
