An article by HealthPayerIntelligence, “New Aetna Health Plan Leverages CVS HealthHUBs, Narrow Networks," cited a study published in the July 2020 issue of The American Journal of Managed Care^® (AJMC^®). In the study, titled “Patient Preferences for Provider Choice: A Discrete Choice Experiment ,” authors used a discrete choice experiment to analyze patient preferences for provider choice, including wait time, breadth, travel time, continuity of care, and monthly premium.
 
A piece by The Daily Chronicle, titled “Allergy Treatment Market Growth and Restrain Factors Analysis 2019-2029," referenced an October 2018 article published in a supplement of AJMC^®. The article, “ The Economic Impact of Peanut Allergies ,” highlighted the prevalence of peanut allergies, which affect an estimated 1.2% of the overall US population and about 2.5% of the pediatric population.

A study published in the September 2020 issue of The American Journal of Managed Care^® was featured on the HealthPayerIntelligence website. The study, “Policies to Address Surprise Billing Can Affect Health Insurance Premiums,” found that in addition to protecting patients from receiving unexpected bills, policies to address surprise billing could reduce health insurance premiums by 1% to 5%.
 
An article on OrthoSpineNews cited an article published on AJMC.com. The article, “Diabetic Amputations May Be Rising in the United States,” indicated that after decades of decline, lower-limb amputations may be rising in the United States. Findings of the study came after reports of rising rates of diabetes and obesity among young adults and soaring insulin costs, which may mean diabetes is not being effectively treated.

The article, “First Case of COVID-19 Reinfection Detected in the US,” examined a man in Nevada who had the first reported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reinfection in the United States and the fifth case of reinfection worldwide.
 
An article by PatientEngagementHIT referenced a study published in the April 2017 issue of AJMC^® . The study, “Patients’ Preferences for Receiving Laboratory Test Results,” indicated that the main reason given for receiving laboratory test results online was time savings, reported by 77% of participants, followed by lowering the chance of missing the results (31%).

The study, “Inpatient-Outpatient Shared Electronic Health Records: Telemedicine and Laboratory Follow-up After Hospital Discharge,” found that a seamlessly shared inpatient-outpatient electronic health record was associated with greater rates of postdischarge follow-up delivered through telemedicine or laboratory monitoring and without an in-person office visit.

The article, “How Has COVID-19 Affected Mental Health, Severity of Stress Among Employees,” examined findings from a study by mental health provider Ginger, in which nearly 7 in 10 employees indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic has been the most stressful time of their entire professional career, aligning with stark increases in new prescriptions of antidepressant, antianxiety, and anti-insomnia medications.
