Alice Austen Sign Up Information

Dear friend of Alice Austen House,

2019 was a transformative year for the Alice Austen House. After several years of research and planning, the House completely redesigned and reinterpreted its public spaces, creating an open and welcoming exhibition that tells the story of Austen’s life and work. The new permanent installation forcefully presents the importance of Austen’s photography and celebrates her virtuosity. It centers her identity as a lesbian and celebrates her 53 year relationship with Gertrude Tate.
 

We are so proud to share this new incredible exhibition with over 20,000 museum visitors per year, including 5,000 NYC school students.


We believe that 2020 will be another phenomenal year with 3 new exhibitions, expanded photographic storytelling classes, and exciting public programming with wonderful opportunities for self care, wellness, and ecological engagement in our beautiful waterfront park.


We invite you to be part of all of this. Please donate today to support one of Staten Island's most unique cultural and community-driven sites.

About the Play
Seven years into the Trojan War, would-be lovers Troilus and Cressida pine for each other, encouraged by the hilarious Pandarus.  Meanwhile, Paris, Hector and Achilles fight over the fate of Helen of Troy. A rare opportunity to see Shakespeare’s funny, insightful and cynical take on the heroes of the Iliad.
