Costa Rica, Côte d''Ivoire, Guatemala and Honduras have acquired Pathfinder status so far this year. More information will follow soon on how these countries will go further and faster to reach Target 8.7. |

Minderoo Foundation launch project |
|
|
The Measurement, Action, Freedom project is a tool for citizens, non-government organisations (NGOs), businesses, and governments to understand current legislative and policy responses to modern slavery. It provides an independent assessment of 183 governments and their responses to the challenge of Sustainable Development Goal 8.7. |

Ridma Weerawardena is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular and talented young musical artists. He is also the latest artist to join the ILO’s Global Music Against Child Labour Initiative. His latest song Punchi Aththatu, which translates in English as ‘Let them fly’, was launched late last year in Colombo. Watch video |

100 organisations call for EU law to address abuses in supply chains |
|
A coalition of a hundred organisations, including Alliance 8.7 Partner Anti-Slavery International, has called on the European Union to develop effective legislation obliging companies and financial institutions to address the human rights and environmental impact of their global operations and supply chains. Incorporating the voices of working children in public policy |
|
|
Alliance 8.7 Partners Kindernothilfe and Terre des Hommes, among others, are behind the It’s Time to Talk! – Children’s Views on Children’s Work campaign. The campaign has produced new tools based on the views of more than 1,800 working children from 36 countries. |

ILO trains journalists on fair recruitment in four Pathfinder Countries |
|
The media has the potential to play a huge role in tackling a culture of migrant worker exploitation. Training in the last few months has focused on Mexico with previous training sessions taking place in Tunisia as well as Guatemala and Nepal. Read more about the REFRAME project |

FAO study on child labour in Pathfinder Countries |
|
In Uganda, FAO will carry out research with the Economic Policy Research Center on child labour in the livestock sector. In Vietnam, FAO is collaborating with the Institute for Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development on research on child labour in family-based agriculture in the Mekong Delta. |

New guidelines on sharing survivors’ stories |
|
Imagine your worst experience. How would you want your story told? Freedom United’s My Story My Dignity guidelines are part of a campaign calling on large media houses, individuals, companies, and organizations in the anti-slavery movement to represent modern slavery with accuracy, respect and dignity. Sensationalist images and language can unintentionally create or reinforce stereotypes or negative prejudices. |

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is organizing an online consultation to identify how agricultural policies and strategies can help to end child labour in agriculture and to discuss the role of agricultural stakeholders. New online map shows domestic slavery legislation |
|
The University of Nottingham’s new Antislavery in Domestic Legislation World Map is an interactive online database that maps all UN Member States’ domestic legislation against international anti-slavery commitments. It covers slavery, the slave trade, servitude, forced labour, as well as institutions and practices similar to slavery and human trafficking. |
