We've heard it said many times, and many ways, but we are going to say it again - we are in this together. Sometimes it can be difficult to acknowledge the full depth of that simple phrase, particularly if you might be feeling disconnected from your peers, friends or family. But it remains true - every day, every moment, we are connected through our shared belief in the power of storytelling, community, creativity, nurturing, listening, and kindness, and our knowledge that things will get better, and that the performing arts will get through this.
In supporting and collaborating with our members, the Arts Wellbeing Collective team has the great fortune of speaking with performing arts workers and leaders from across the sector. During COVID-19, the overwhelming sentiment from these conversations has been on how to support our people - now and into the future. There is an inherent understanding that without our people, there is no industry, and the advocacy happening across all levels to support arts workers is heartening to see and feel. Please know that there are leaders, advocates and activists working tirelessly for the good of the sector, and everyone in it. You are seen, and you are valued.
As always, if you need support at any time day or night, the Support Act Wellbeing Helpline is a 24/7 free, confidential phone counselling service available to anyone who works - or usually works - in the creative industries. Simply phone 1800 959 500 to speak with an experienced, qualified clinician about any aspect of your mental health and wellbeing.
We are also thrilled to announce that we are now offering a Manager Support Hotline as part of this crucial service. So, if you would like to speak confidentially to a senior counsellor regarding support for managing anything impacting your people, simply call 1800 818 728 or email to set up an appointment. This service is confidential and completely free of charge. We hope that you find it helpful.
We'd like to take this opportunity to give a special shout out to The Masque Co and AKA Australia #AMaskForTheArts who are selling fantastic masks, and have generously chosen to donate to the Arts Wellbeing Collective. We are humbled and grateful for your support.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank many, many of you for your kindness and generosity towards the Arts Wellbeing Collective team at this overwhelming time. It is a pleasure and a privilege to have so many incredible partners and supporters - the performing arts community is a special, interconnected, passionate community, and we are grateful for each and every one of you and the wonderful contributions you bring.
Look after yourselves, look after each other, and know that you are never, ever alone.
Wishing you good health and creativity,
The team at Arts Centre Melbourne
