THANK YOU FOR BUILDING HOPE WITH US
While our current situation has presented us with a host of challenges, Austin Habitat for Humanity remains committed to serving Austin-area residents in need of stable and affordable housing. We are humbled to have so many dedicated partners stepping up to support us during this time. We wanted to share with you these Silver Linings of Hope for our Habitat families that you have made possible with your generous support.
Together We Build Homes
We are proud to share that two new families have closed on their new homes in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis. We are so grateful for the big-hearted Habitat partners that joined together to build hope for these families.

Welcome Home Miranda Family!

Mary is the leader of a multi-generational household that includes her children and her aging parents. She works as a customer-service representative for TXTag. Thanks to your partnership, Mary is now able to provide a stable home for family and a strong foundation for their future. Mary shared that she was particularly focused on providing a healthy environment for her 11-year-old son who recently survived a battle with cancer and who still requires frequent doctor visits. Mary impressed everyone she worked with because of how hard she worked at building her home while at the same time caring for her parents and working a full time job. Thank you to ARM, HID Global, SailPoint, Pimco, Facebook, Madhouse Development, Five Stone Tax Advisers, Shepherd of Hills Lutheran, Madewell and all of the Build for Unity partners for making Mary's dreams come true.

Welcome Home Martinez Family!

Liliana and Anyelo have dedicated themselves to do whatever it takes to build the best possible life for themselves and their two young children. Liliana works as a pharmacy tech at H-E-B and Anyelo works as a cook. Despite their stable employment, this family has struggled with the high cost of living in Austin. This family of four could barely afford their cramped one-bedroom apartment where their seven-year-old son slept in the living room. Lilianna and Anyelo are thrilled to now have a backyard for their children to play in on sunny days and are looking forward to hosting family barbeques with their new neighbors. Thank you to all the supporters, volunteers, businesses and individual donors that came together to help this family realize their homeownership dream. Thank you to Riverbend Church, Messiah Lutheran Church, Cate Black Photography, Tex-Con Oil, ISEC Foundation, Greater Texas Credit Union and all of the organizations, volunteers, businesses and individual donors that came together to help this family realize their homeownership dream.

Together We Build Community
|

We are grateful for all of our partners for providing COMMUNITY for the Habitat families. In the spring, we raised the walls and began construction on five homes in Austin and one home in San Marcos. While we have currently paused volunteer construction, we are looking forward to the day when we can build with you again. Shout out to all the volunteers, sponsors, and neighbors who stepped up to partner with our new homeowners this spring. A huge thank you to our longstanding partners like Gerard Van de Werken's crew, Home Depot, and Catholic teams who lead the construction on 3 of the 5 homes this Spring.

Special thanks to Lowe's Home Improvement for our most recent Home Repair project supporting Ernestine. A mother of three, Ernestine worked hard cleaning buildings at the University of Texas until she needed surgery and was forced to retire. Austin Habitat for Humanity provided critical home repairs that made her home more accessible, working alongside a team of 16 Lowe's employees who also painted the outside of Ernestine's home.

Together We Celebrate 35 Years

Austin Habitat for Humanity is also building outside the box and creating a new interactive experience at this year's Blueprints and Blue Jeans event. Mark your calendars now for September 17th and get ready for an event that celebrates our mission in a whole new way with interactive hands-on activities, a power tool petting zoo, BBQ tasting, and live music under the stars. It will be a night to remember and we'll do it all on Philomena Street, right by our new Townhomes at Mueller, providing attendees with a glimpse into the future with our first multifamily homeownership product in Austin. You won't want to miss it!
Habitat is operating virtually and all volunteering and in-person events are suspended until at least May 8th. Visit our COVID-19 Response and Resource page for the most up-to-date information.
