Brand new from Babylon
Hi Walter
Babylon’s mission is to put accessible and affordable healthcare into the hands of everyone on earth.
This month, we’re happy to be bringing you improvements in Babylon Healthcheck that give you more accurate wellbeing recommendations and to be covering interesting new findings relating to anorexia.
New research: is anorexia really all in the mind?
Anorexia is a very complex illness that affects both mind and body. Although treatment is available and recovery is possible, for many people it is often a long and bumpy journey.
Now, a new study looking at the genetic make-up of anorexia has uncovered the option of supporting recovery through developing treatment targeted at the metabolism.

We're investing $550 million in healthcare for all
Hi Walter
We founded Babylon 5 years ago with the simple belief that healthcare is a basic human right, and done correctly with today’s technology, it should be possible to make healthcare accessible and affordable and to put it in the hands of every person on earth.
You may have seen in the news this week that we're investing $550 million to take another step towards the realisation of that mission. I wanted our members to be among the first to hear how we will use this investment.
We aim to increase our technology-driven capabilities to allow us to reach more people and impact more lives. We will expand our support services for members with chronic conditions and accelerate our growth in North America and Asia, where we are seeing significant demand. We will also keep localising and personalising our offering so that we can meet specific national needs and sensitively operate in different cultures.
AI-powered healthcare
There's so much more that artificial intelligence (AI) and technology could be doing to help us take control of our health. We are in very early days, but this technology, in time, has the potential to massively improve healthcare delivery.
We want to harness that potential and offer it back to our members in a way that fits with our day to day lives, no matter where we live in the world.
Chronic condition management
Chronic condition management is particularly high on our to-do list.
Across the world, people with long-term health conditions, such as diabetes and mental health problems, face significant challenges. Healthcare for them can be expensive and often inaccessible. We are investing in cutting-edge technologies that will make treatment easier for both the person who has the condition and their care provider.
We have a long way to go and a lot to deliver and we are grateful to our members, our partners and our 1,500 brilliant Babylonians for allowing us to forge ahead.
We will make sure you are among the first to hear when we launch new health management features. We are always learning and always listening. Most of what we build is in response to brilliant suggestions from our members to help meet their growing needs. So please never hesitate to let us know how we can serve you better. Best of health,
Dr Ali Parsa, Founder and CEO Babylon

Have a happy, healthy bank holiday
Hi Walter
Our GPs are always here for you. If some under-barbecued chicken upsets your stomach or your ankle isn’t feeling 100% after an overly competitive frisbee session, you can book an appointment right away. In fact, we’re available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, as part of our mission to provide an accessible, affordable health service.
Also this month, explore how your perceptions of mental health compare to the rest of the UK and read an article from one of our GPs (and mum of 3) helping those struggling to find straight answers on breastfeeding.
Exploring mental health perceptions
If almost 50% of the UK population is likely to experience a diagnosable mental health condition in their lifetime*, isn’t it about time it stopped being a taboo subject?
See how your perceptions compare to others' and to national statistics* – you may be surprised what you learn.

Breastfeeding: the research, the reality and the reactions
When it comes to how best to feed your baby, wading through inflammatory headlines, conflicting research and mixed professional advice is challenging.
One of our GPs (and mother of three) explores the controversial topic in a bid to help those struggling for straight answers.

Top tip: bank holiday GP hours
Remember, our GPs are available 24/7 – even during the upcoming bank boliday (Monday 26 August).
If you’re feeling under the weather, head to the app and get an appointment in minutes at any time of the day or night and whether you're at home or away**.
