Brexit continues to loom large in this country’s political landscape.

We have been considering what our role should be in the months and years ahead, as Britain negotiates its new relationship with the EU.

We are close to completing our plans and, while some details have yet to be finalised, you can be sure that internationalism and, in particular, campaigning for the closest possible relationship with our European neighbours, will be at the heart of everything we do.

Please take a look at the topics we think are of particular importance, and feel free to let us know if you agree or disagree with the direction in which we are moving.

You have all been committed supporters of Best for Britain and your views are immensely important to us.

This will continue. We are ready to use data to continue influencing MPs, ministers and other decision-makers and, with your help, we will make sure that internationalist voices are amplified and heard, both here and in Brussels. 

We will battle to protect the rights and regulations that are now under threat, not only in terms of trade negotiations but also in areas such as equality and human rights.

Our future must be in an open and inclusive society, something best achieved by the UK retaining its internationalist values, ensuring protections and opportunities that mirror those we have benefited from in the EU. 

We have always stood for what’s best for Britain and, in the years ahead, we believe that will mean bonding as closely as possible with our European neighbours. It’s a conviction we hope you share.

As an organisation, we are humbled that you and hundreds of thousands of others have been our allies through the ups and downs of Brexit.

Many of you have said you are seeking ways in which to continue our mission to champion both Britain and our country’s engagement with Europe and the wider world – indeed, we hope you all feel that way.

There are challenging times ahead, for sure. But we are excited about the role which we can and should play.

It’s a role which, with your fantastic support, will ensure our voices are heard, will ensure we help shape our country’s future in these tumultuous times, and will ensure our political leaders do the right thing – battling for what is best for Britain.

Deals with the USA and Australia threaten British farmers and British consumers.

From inhumane farming practices, to chlorine washed chicken, the British public are right to be worried about their food.

Food is such a huge part of our lives. Talking about food raises so many crucial and relevant issues - health, animal welfare, environmentalism, and international trade. As part of the EU, we enjoyed world class protections on all these things - from pesticide regulation to protect bees, to farming standards to protect our sheep and cattle.

Now we're alone, and trying to negotiate our place in the world. That could mean accepting worse standards and worse regulation, simply to get a seat at the table. Just recently, parliament lost the right to vote on our trade deals. Once in a lifetime decisions are being made on behalf of the British people, with no scrutiny or oversight. So it's up to us all to be vigilant, and stand up for British standards.

Please, sign our petition to keep our food standards high. Not just to make sure what we have on our plates is safe and healthy to eat, but to guard against cruel and ungreen practices. Sign the petition to uphold British standards now.

It's not just about the protections on our food.

The coronavirus pandemic has shown us how fragile our food supply chains really are. If we don't get a deal with Europe which guarantees frictionless trade, we could face similar shortages on our supermarket shelves.

Over a third of our food comes from Europe. It will be much harder to get fresh and healthy produce shipped quickly across the Channel into UK shops - and near impossible to ship it from trade partners on the other side of the world.

Without a comprehensive trade deal with the EU, many staple items, like pasta, tinned tomatoes and baked beans, which we get from Europe, will be slapped with extra import taxes. With healthy staples skyrocketing in price, vulnerable families will be pushed into buy cheaper, less healthy food - like chlorinated chicken and cheap, hormone-injected beef.

Sign the petition to keep our standards high in our upcoming trade deals - once regulations start to slip, the floodgates will open to a host of damaging and unhealthy practices. Sign today, and make sure our standards stay world-class.

Outside the EU, we don't have the bargaining power of the world's largest trading bloc. Our leaders may be tempted to sacrifice the protections which keep us all safe, for a short-term advantage.

But IF?get a full deal with Europe, we CAN maintain the standards of food, environmental and animal safety we've enjoyed for years. We CAN continue to get fresh, healthy produce quickly and easily. And we CAN uphold our standards which stem from a shared set of values.

Opportunity to extend transition not taken

Today, the government missed a huge opportunity to do the thing right. The UK has officially missed the deadline to seek an extension to the transition period.

This means the UK will end the transition period in December with or without a trade deal. The government believes they have an ''oven-ready'' deal. Well, we know it''s not usually as easy as that at the best of times. These are not the best of times. It''s our job to make sure the UK doesn''t fall out of the transition period without a deal or a plan. We can do it, with your help?Abigail.

Brexit has been done, we''re no longer an EU member. Britain needs the best trade deal possible with our European neighbours. We need to stand firm to our principles and keep food, welfare and workplace standards high. And we need to make sure businesses, EU27 citizens in the UK and UK citizens in Europe can all prepare for the new systems.

Let's do everything in our power to avoid leaving without a deal at the end of this year. Join us in protecting the UK from a second, massive crisis. We''ve stopped ''no deal'' before. Help us do it again.

Abigail, I want to talk to you about persuasion.

If the Government will listen to one thing, it's the voters who won them the 2019 election. They''ll need to keep hold of their votes to stay in power next time. That''s why we''ve been highlighting the opinion of ''Red Wall'' voters in our recent reports. It''s why the opinions of those voters are important to MPs from all parties - it''s the battleground for the next few years of politics.

Our recent polling shows it is in the Government's self-interest to extend transition, secure a trade deal with Europe, and keep these areas on-side. In addition to the economic reasons to extend, it is their electoral prospects which will grab Cummings'' and Johnson''s attention.

That's why I've come to you, Abigail, with a request. MRP polling, which is able to accurately segment and analyse voters' opinions, is complicated and expensive. Your donation would allow us to keep funding polling like this. It's the only way to persuade the Government to do what's right. It''s become the gold standard and we''ve got good at it.

We recently showed 90% of voters in Red Wall seats, leavers or remainers, want a trade deal, 70% prioritise a European trade deal, and 60% fear the cost of daily essentials will rise without one. Our findings surprised many MPs. We need to keep showing them the facts.

Our campaign to extend the Brexit transition period has already caused a stir.

Over 30,000 people have signed our petition calling to extend. Our campaign and our cutting-edge polling have appeared in the Sunday Times and the Independent. We've shown the nation is on our side - the vast majority of people support an extension to the transition period.

We need to focus entirely on beating coronavirus. Then we can get the best deal possible. It's not too late, we still have a chance to mitigate the worst effects of Brexit and avoid a no deal. Join the movement and sign our petition below.

Even traditionally pro-Brexit outlets like the Telegraph and the Spectator have admitted there's nothing to lose by extending the transition period - and all to gain.

Coverage like this has gotten the attention of MPs. Hundreds of letters have been sent by our supporters to local newspapers in support of extension, many in key swing constituencies.

Extending transition is swiftly becoming the only sensible option. It's not reasonable to expect the UK to re-negotiate all it's trading relationships during a global lockdown - and it's not fair to demand other nations prioritise trade talks with us.

We're seeing a consensus emerge among our leaders, negotiators and trade bodies. We believe we played a part in that. We believe our campaigning, our polling, our research and our lobbying have helped change the conservation.

UK Government seeking extension to transition

Best for Britain''s supporters have been heard. The UK can only deal with one crisis at a time.

With face-to-face negotiations cancelled and a global pandemic upon us, the UK government is reportedly looking at agreeing to extend the transition period beyond the current 31st December end point.

Best for Britain has been calling for this course of action since the pandemic started and we fully support the government in making the right choice. Just as we support their efforts to control the virus.

Our country is fighting Coronavirus tooth and nail, but we need to tackle one crisis at a time. It makes no sense to impose an arbitrary deadline for a trade deal with the EU under those circumstances. If we give ourselves no time, we won't get a good deal - it's as simple as that.

Make sure your MP knows you support them on this. Make sure they know they can help the government agree an extension to the transition period to give us the time we need.

Since the UK left the EU on 31st January, we have been in transition. This means many of the rules and processes have stayed the same even though we''re not EU members.

The Withdrawal Agreement with the EU says transition ends no matter what on 31st December 2020. The risk has always been that if no future trade deal with the EU was agreed in time we would end up with No Deal.

Britain stands to benefit massively by removing that unhelpful deadline. Make sure your MP knows you support it.

It''s been 4 years

Today is the anniversary of the EU referendum in 2016

Can you believe it''s been 4 years already? Does it seem like a lifetime ago? It does for me. The original question has been decided, we have already left the EU. That''s not the outcome I wanted but now the important thing is to come together and make sure we look after our future.

The government has the opportunity now to extend transition and agree the best deal for us with the EU. But they seem to be refusing to tackle just one crisis at a time.

Make sure your MP knows about our polling - the majority of Brits want to avoid a no deal Christmas. They want closer cooperation with Europe, not Trump''s America and they want a stable future. Send a message to your MP today.

We've all had time stolen by COVID. Everyone has had their lives set off course by this unexpected and unprecedented pandemic, some much more than others. And adding another crisis in December would make it worse for us all.

In the 4 years since the referendum there have been so many red lines, so many threats to walk away from negotiations and so much wasted opportunity.?

MPs are looking to the future. So are we. Your MP, no matter what party they belong to, is looking at the way this government is handling the current crisis and needs to consider how adding another crisis will affect their constituents.

Your MP needs to hear from you. People need time to recover before another destabilising force rocks the boat. They need time to get their life back on course.

If we can't get that, we at least can fight for some reassurance about our future. We can fight to get the best deal for Britain.
