Welcome to the November issue of VAHI news
We are pleased to resume VAHI news after a short hiatus spent providing support to Victoria's COVID-19 response. I hope you have all been keeping well during these challenging times.
About a quarter of VAHI's staff have been redeployed to assist in the Department of Health and Human Services'' COVID-19 efforts, with VAHI reconfiguring our portal in late March 2020 to provide COVID-19 reporting to health services and the Victorian Government.
Safety and surveillance in Victoria's health system has remained a priority for VAHI over recent months, and I am pleased to share information about our second statewide report on Victorian Health Incident Management System (VHIMS) reported incidents - providing statewide medication-related incident data for the first time. We have also continued important work on our VHIMS program of reforms, enabling more regular statewide reporting on safety in the public health system.
The Victorian Healthcare Experience Survey program of reforms continues to progress based on sector feedback, with the new program set to provide swifter reporting, fewer metrics and more actionable data.
While we can't continue our popular face to face education sessions, we are excited to introduce our new online VAHI video series focused on improving health data information and literacy. The educational videos explain how to interpret some of the data visualisations featured in VAHI reports, allowing readers to better understand the information being presented.
Finally, we are pleased to launch our Year in review 2019-20, where we share our progress against strategic priorities and our many achievements from the year.
Stay safe.
