Jack -
It's right there in Article I of the Constitution, but that hasn't stopped Donald Trump from attacking the US Postal Service.
As Dan Rather tweeted yesterday, maybe Trump hates the Postal Service because it actually delivers. (rimshot!)
At the direction of Trump's handpicked Postmaster General, they're threatening to slash service in the middle of a pandemic - right when we're all counting on the USPS to deliver medications, packages, and yes, BALLOTS.
As President Obama said at Congressman John Lewis's funeral, the GOP's wide-ranging attack on our voting rights is "even undermining the Postal Service in the run-up to an election that is going to be dependent on mailed-in ballots so people don't get sick.
We cannot let them dismantle the Postal Service.
Add your name and demand Congress step in to save the U.S. Postal Service.
Right now, Congress is debating whether to fund the USPS with additional pandemic relief dollars.
I say, HELL YES.? And I hope you'll join me.
The USPS is literally keeping our country alive. Come September, the USPS could be insolvent because of a completely unreasonable pension pre-funding mandate placed by the Republican-controlled Congress nearly two decades ago.? (Seriously, they're required to set aside money today for mail carriers that will retire 75 years from now.? Mail carriers that aren't even born yet!)
Here in Oregon, we've been voting from home for twenty years.? It's safe, it's easy, you get three weeks to get it done, and yeah, it's much healthier in the middle of a health crisis.
Obviously, that's why Donald Trump is pushing this angle - to suppress the vote.
Will you add your name to our petition, demanding Congress take action to save the U.S. Postal Service? Make your voice heard and help us get to 100,000 supporters.
Let's stand together,
Kari Chisholm
