Dear Valued Donor,
In this time of uncertainty as our country responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Your past support has enabled Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (BGCGM) to be able to pivot our operations quickly to serve kids in new and different ways as we enter this new reality and adjust to new norms.
As you likely know, BGCGM is the largest youth serving organization in Southeastern Wisconsin. We serve around 5,000 youth daily with after school care and programming in the areas of: arts, academics, sports & recreation, health & wellness, and character & leadership. We operate over 40 after school Club locations in Milwaukee and Camp Whitcomb/Mason in Hartland, WI.
The decision to close our Clubs for health and safety reasons was not an easy decision, but it was a necessary one. As you know, many parents rely on BGCGM for childcare, academic support, and many youth rely on us for meals - we serve 1 million a year! We want you to know that we are hard at work and continue to serve our community in the following ways:
- We are providing grab-and-go breakfast, lunch and dinner at select sites.
- We are busy creating fun, engaging and educational content for our members, including instructional videos and a variety of virtual programming.
- Our team is individually calling each family we work with to learn more about their needs and adjust our offerings to respond to our community. We are getting very positive feedback about these personalized efforts.
Leadership is also committed to keeping our team working and paid during this tumultuous time.
Please take a moment to check out our ever-evolving resources and updates on our website. We also hope you'll connect with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, where our team is busy engaging youth and providing updates as well. If you have young ones at home, we hope some of this content will be helpful for your family as well! And, as always, we welcome your feedback and ideas.
We continue to monitor guidance from national and international public health and government organizations and are working closely with our national organization to keep the best interest of our youth and the families we serve at the center of all of our decisions.
Your support is as critical as ever. The need for support and services felt by Milwaukee youth does not go away under these unprecedented circumstances. In fact, in some areas, the need is even greater. If you would like to help Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee during this difficult time, please visit our website to find out how you can make a difference.
Thank you for your generous support,
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee
