You are getting this email because you have been a jury member in the past or have expressed interest in becoming a jury member. We now have a new intake form that we require all potential jury members to fill out. The link is here https://breakoutwest.ca/awards/jury

I want to thank you all for helping us out in the past or just for expressing interest in helping us out. If this year's dates don't work for you, please email me back and I will keep your name on our list going forward. If you no longer wish to participate, let me know and I will remove your name permanently.

If these dates work for you, please sign up, deadline is March 5, 2021. Any questions please reach out to me.

As with most years but especially during the COVID years, these dates are subject to change.

November 23 - Jury site open

March 5 - Jury site closed

March 16 - Jury assignments complete

April 13 - First round of voting begins

May 6 - First round of voting ends

May 18 - Second round of voting begins

June 1 - Second round of voting ends

Hello all jury members

I hope you and your families are all safe and doing well. For those home isolating you will now have some new, hopefully, music to listen to.

Once again, I would like to thank you all for participating in the 2020 WCMA's. You do not need to respond to this email, this is your category assignment, dates, and guidelines. If you feel there is a conflict and the dates no longer work for you, please email me ASAP and I might be able to replace you or swap you into another category.

On Wednesday April 22, 2020 you will receive from Yangaroo a login and password for you to start your listening. If you have not received it by the end of the day, check your spam folder before getting a hold of me, if not I will get them to issue another. Please check on Wednesday. You will have until 11:50 PM CST Wednesday May 6, 2020 to complete your voting. You can choose up to 8 submissions and the top 5 will become this year's nominees. 

2nd round and jury and member voting (you will only have to vote (1) for your top pick in your assigned category)

Starts May 19, 2020 Ends midnight (CST) June 2, 2020

If you are also a member of your western music association, you may get two passwords, one will be for you being a judge, the other is part of your membership. Make sure you complete the judge one so that we can complete the category

Your category is in the subject line of this email and I have provided you with the guidelines and the jury criteria for your category attached in this email, please apply this to what you are listening to. If you didn't get it or have deleted it, please ask and I will re-send it to you. If you feel you are in the wrong category or a conflict. Just email me and we will resolve it.

You may choose up to 8 submissions, some categories may have less and others more. For whatever reason if you feel only 4 are strong enough, that is fine. 

As with every year, the buck stops with you. If you feel, for whatever reason the artists that you are listening to does not fit within the guidelines, then simply do not vote for that person. I have tried on this end to vet anything I feel does not belong, but I simply cannot do every submission.

Many artists email me regarding what to put into their submission. My response is to make sure you have your social media links in there and they are up to date. They should also include as much information as possible. I always assure them that members of the jury look at it all.

Hello everyone

With respect to what is happening with the COVID-19 virus situation. We are going to be extending our deadlines to allow musicians and organizations the chance to deal with more important matters of their careers and the office changes. Below is the new deadlines. If this is good with you, just please note it, if there is an issue that you no longer can commit to these dates, please let me know

The dates for 2020 are (you will choose your top 8)

1rst round and jury votes

Starts April 22, 2020

Ends midnight (CT) May 6, 2020

2nd round and jury and member voting (you will only have to vote (1) for your top pick in your assigned category)

Starts May 19, 2020

Ends midnight (CT) June 2, 2020
