EXCLUSIVE: Schelotto on 'emotional' return to action

Ezequiel Schelotto was understandably delighted to be back in the side for Saturday�s 3-2 win over Everton at the Amex.

The Argentine defender returned from a lengthy lay-off as a second-half substitute, featuring in the dramatic finale, which saw the Seagulls battle back to seal victory after being 2-1 down, and he thanked a host of people after his return to action.

He said, �I�m very emotional, I was out for seven months and it was a really tough time.

�I want to thank the head coach, my family, the supporters and everyone at the club for how they�ve been with me over the time that I've been out.

�It was a big day for me, the most important thing was of course that the team got the win, but now it is important for me to enjoy this feeling with my family and the people who are closest to me.

�Highs like today make up for having to go through the lows as a footballer.

�We�ll be working hard to get another good result. The mood in the dressing room is good and we have a lot of positives to work with at the moment.�

"We�ve had important players coming back, which creates more competition for places, and ultimately it will raise every individual�s levels, which will also raise the team�s standards."

CAMEO ROLE FOR BILLY

Our Assistant Head Coach, Billy Reid, is about to star in a cameo role in Vindication Swim, a film about the first woman to cross the Channel by Elliot Hasler, an season-ticket holder. Billy says the experience takes you out of your comfort zone. "You have to go and perform. It is the same as a football player, you have to go on the pitch and perform in front of large numbers."

DUNK STILL HUNGRY FOR ENGLAND CHANCE

Lewis Dunk is determined to force his way back into Gareth Southgate�s England squad. The defender was included in the Three Lions� camps in both October and November last season, making his debut against the USA at Wembley Stadium, and spoke about his ambitions to return to the fold in the future.

Albion fans were in high spirits at the recent Premier League Mornings event in Austin, Texas. The event saw the screening of all the weekend's Premier League fixtures, with supporters coming together to watch Albion take on Everton. Gully joined fans who had travelled from Houston, San Antonio and Austin to Schloz Garten, in central Austin, for the screening.

EXCLUSIVE: Duffy's mixed emotions after Ireland captaincy

Shane Duffy admitted he had mixed emotions after being chosen to captain the Republic of Ireland in their Euro 2020 qualifier against Denmark, as a 1-1 draw in Dublin meant Mick McCarthy's side had to settle for a place in the play-offs.

Ireland knew that a win would have secured an automatic qualification for next year's finals, but will now turn their focus to a play-off match with Slovakia in March.

"I found out that I would be captain the day before the game, as the manager pulled me over and said to go and lead us out. I had to try to keep the excitement in and obviously focus on the game. The result didn't really go our way, but hopefully I can look back on it in the future as a big moment" he explained.

The Seagulls centre-back also spoke about Aaron Connolly's impressive recent progress to the senior squad, and expressed his delight at the way he's progressed for both club and country.

"It's great to see him come through at Brighton and how well he's done. He's been fast-tracked to the seniors for Ireland too, and that's fully deserved."

ALBION EXTEND POTTER'S CONTRACT

Brighton & Hove Albion have extended the contracts of Graham Potter, Billy Reid, Bjorn Hamberg and Kyle Macaulay to 2025.

Chairman Tony Bloom said, "We've been really pleased with the start Graham has made as a head coach since joining us in the summer, and I'm delighted he and his staff have committed to these new long-term contracts."

ALBION GIVE BIRMINGHAM THE BLUES

Albion thrilled a crowd of 4,130 as they claimed their first win of the season in the Barclays FA Women's Super League with a hugely impressive performance over Birmingham City at the Amex.

Wales international Kayleigh Green, who was named player of the match, scored twice either side of a brilliant long-range rocket from Lea Le Garrec, as Hope Powell's team enjoyed their biggest home win in the WSL.

FA CUP THIRD ROUND DRAW

The Emirates FA Cup Third Round draw for this season will take place from 7pm on Monday, 2 December on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.

Conducted by former Arsenal captain Tony Adams and ex-Manchester City defender Micah Richards, the draw will be broadcast live from the Etihad Stadium, home of current cup holders Manchester City.

PALACE MATCH BROUGHT FORWARD

Albion's Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Monday, 16 December has been brought forward by 15 minutes and now kicks off at an earlier time of 7.45pm.

Tickets for this match have sold out; however, tickets are on general sale for Albion's next Premier League home fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Amex on Sunday, 8 December, kick-off 4.30pm.

ALBION EXTEND POTTER�S CONTRACT

Brighton & Hove Albion have extended the contract of head coach Graham Potter to 2025, after his impressive start in the role.

Potter, along with assistant Billy Reid, first-team coach Bjorn Hamberg and assistant head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay, have all also agreed contract extensions to 2025. The trio joined Potter in moving from Swansea City to Albion last summer.

Chairman Tony Bloom said, �We�ve been really pleased with the start Graham has made as head coach since joining us in the summer, and I�m delighted he and his staff have committed to these new long-term contracts.

�Together with his backroom team, he has continued the club�s progress of recent years and brought a different approach with a new style of play, which has been embraced by players and supporters alike.

�In the summer we unveiled a new long-term vision for us to become an established top-ten Premier League club, and we feel even more strongly that Graham as a bright, energetic and innovative head coach, is the right man to lead us there.�

Potter added, �I�ve had a tremendous welcome from everyone connected to the club � staff, players and fans � and have found it very easy to settle.

�The infrastructure, support and everything associated with the club is first class, and I�m pleased with what we have been able to do already, but there is still a way for us to go.

�I�m thrilled that the club have liked what they�ve seen so far, in a relatively short period of time, and have already shown an added confidence in what we are trying to do.

�I hope that this is just the start of what will be another successful period in our history, and I�m extremely grateful that the club have made this long-term commitment.�

POTTER: EVERYONE WILL HAVE AN INPUT

Graham Potter has emphasised the importance of being able to call on all members of his squad for the remainder of the 2019/20 Premier League run-in.

His side host Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United tonight looking to build on their impressive four-point return from their two matches since the season resumed.

Potter has used five subs in both games so far to take advantage of the temporary ruling that allows him to name nine players on the bench.

He said, "It's normal that every player wants to start the game, but if you look at the Arsenal win from our perspective, the guys that finish the game are so important.

"They have to be ready - whether that's for three minutes or 30 minutes. We all saw the contribution Alexis Mac Allister had against Arsenal when he was on for a matter of minutes and had a big hand in the winning goal.

"The players know the situation and have been really professional. Every player is ready to help the team and play for however long they are needed."

Brighton & Hove Albion have created a special home shirt thanking the NHS and other frontline key workers with American Express kindly giving up their shirt sponsorship position on the club's replica kit to say thanks to NHS and key worker heroes.

The new design features a special 'Thank You NHS' logo emblazoned across the front of the club's existing home shirt, and 'Thank You Key Workers' on the sleeve.

A number of the special shirts will be donated to frontline healthcare workers at seven NHS trusts across Sussex; and, given the expected popularity of the shirt, a limited number will be made available for supporters to purchase, with all profits from the sales going directly to NHS charities via the Albion As One fund, established by the club's players and subsequently opened up for further donations by directors, staff and fans.

Albion chief executive Paul Barber said, "We wanted to show our thanks and boost the new charitable fund, Albion As One, and so we felt this was the best possible way to show just how proud we are of the NHS and all key workers."

QUARTER OF MILLION POUND START FOR ALBION AS ONE

Brighton & Hove Albion's Albion As One charity fund has kicked off with a staggering combined total ?263,939 from the club's players and directors - and now staff, partners and fans, who are in a position to do so, are being invited to add their support to the fund which will boost a number of charities across the county.

The club's players and staff have selected a number of charities based in Sussex, including charities for hospices, sick children, domestic abuse victims, bereavement care, food banks, homeless support and health workers - who will all benefit from the fund - alongside a contribution of approximately 20% to Albion in the Community.

They are all charities hardest hit by the global coronavirus pandemic, and will begin distributing funds to help communities in the city of Brighton & Hove and across our county.

Chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said, "I'd like to thank the players, chairman and all those that have contributed to Albion As One so far for their kindness and generosity - we know that whatever we can raise at such a difficult time will make a real difference to local charities and good causes who do so much for our wider community."

Albion's first-team squad made the collective gesture by donating a significant portion of their April wages - with the players' initial amount further boosted by a donation from Tony Bloom and his fellow directors.

Glenn Murray explained, "There's a collective desire from everyone within the squad and the club to do something for local charities suffering as a result of the crisis.

"The people of Brighton & Hove and across Sussex have always been there for this football club going back a long way, and as players and representatives of the club we want to show the same support we've had from our community, week in, week out for so long.

"We want to kick-start this fund with the aim of raising a substantial amount for local good causes. We will then work with the club's staff to agree how we will distribute the money raised among local charities who've been hardest hit as a result of the coronavirus."
