JobKeeper eligibility revised
The Australian Government has announced changes to the next stage of the JobKeeper wage subsidy scheme, beginning end of September 2020.
Revisions to the JobKeeper eligibility criteria may impact businesses right across Australia, and include:
- Businesses will only need to show that their GST turnover has fallen over one quarter, instead of multiple, to be eligible for the scheme''s extension.
- The employee eligibility test has opened up to workers who have been on the books since July 1, instead of March 1.
For the latest information on the JobKeeper scheme, visit the Australian Treasury website.

Update to SA business restrictions
As of Wednesday 5 August, patrons in South Australian pubs, bars and restaurants must be seated while consuming food and beverages.
The rule has been reinstated in response to an increased threat of COVID-19 transmission from recent interstate and locally-acquired cases. Home gatherings have also been restricted to a maximum of 10 people.
Businesses should visit Recovery from COVID-19 to view current business restrictions and information on COVID-Safe Plans.

Land tax relief extended
The State Government is extending the land tax relief scheme which is enabling landlords to pass on significant rent reductions to residential and commercial tenants impacted by COVID-19.
Originally slated to end in July, eligible landlords can now receive up to a 25% reduction on their 2019-20 land tax liability on affected properties-provided they pass the full benefit onto impacted tenants-until the end of September.
For more information, and to apply as a landlord, visit Revenue SA.

Why complete COVID Clean training?
As Director and Safety Officer at the Australian Driving Institute, Tania Wearing chose to enrol in the COVID clean training course to ensure her knowledge of hygiene practices was up to date.
"In our business we have people swapping in and out of vehicles a lot, and we didn't want to become a hub of transmission," Tania says. "I wanted to make sure our staff and clients were safe."
The accredited training course equips business owners, managers and employees with knowledge of effective hygiene practices, surface cleaning, infection-control and the appropriate response to a COVID-19 incident.
"A key learning for me was proper hand washing technique," Tania says.
"They did a great demonstration that showed how our current methods were not up to scratch, and I've since purchased a hand-washing kit and repeated the demonstration with our staff.
"The best thing about the training was the ability to ask questions and clarify information about COVID-19 transmission. I was able to sort correct information from the myths."
To learn more about the government-subsidised COVID clean training, and to enrol, visit the SA Business Information Hub.
