Your free trial of Chatra Pro plan is now over. What a drag, right? But don’t worry, you’ve automatically been downgraded to our free plan.

The free version still has many powerful features, but you won’t be able to use any of the following:

• Real-time visitor list. You won’t be able to know who’s online on your website and start chatting with them.
• Targeted (proactive) chats. Now Chatra will keep a low profile and won’t initiate conversations with visitors. Maybe there are some who like it that way, but we know that targeted chats boost sales like no other live chat features.
• Intelligent form bot. Anonymous visitors will not be able to fill in their names, emails and phone numbers in special fields. You’ll have to ask for their details yourself.
• Facebook Integration. Now you won’t be able to chat with Facebook visitors who message your page from Chatra.
• Operating hours. You won’t be able to set times when you want and don’t want to be available to chat.
• Detailed visitor information. You’ll no longer be able to get information about visitors’ location on the website, their path, or their operating system and browser.
• Typing insights. Now you won’t be able to see what visitors are typing until they’ve hit send.
• Ban visitors. Unfortunately not all website visitors play nice; some are just trolls. Chatra won’t be able to protect you from them, as the ban feature is only available on our extended plan.
• Integrations. You will not be able to get chat transcripts and notifications in Slack, Help Scout or Front, send data to third party apps via webhooks and use API to get additional info about your customers.
• API access. If you used any of our powerful API features, they will cease to work as well.

But don’t worry! If you decide you want to keep using any or all of the above, you can upgrade and everything will be restored to how it’s been for the past ten days.

We are gradually moving from being a live chat solution to becoming a multichannel helpdesk tool, allowing you to handle conversations with customers in one place, no matter how they reached you. For quite some time we support Facebook messages and today we are happy to announce a new feature: email inbox.

How does it work?

Connect the email address your customers use to contact you and manage your email conversations alongside chats. We completely rethought the user interface to make composing replies and formatting easy and nice.

Chatra is an invisible helpdesk: your customers will see your reply as if you sent them a regular email, there will be no ticket IDs, robotic auto-responses, or mentions that you are using Chatra.

Why you do need it?

Even if you use a live chat tool on your website, you are still getting emails: they may be replies to your marketing campaigns, or customers messaging you directly.

Chatra allows you and your team to stay productive replying to many types of customer inquiries from one shared team inbox. Gather everything under one roof to eliminate the silos and simplify access to the complete communication history across all channels.

Emails in Chatra look unread until you reply or intentionally close them. Don’t risk missing an important email that was occasionally opened and marked as read by you or your team member.

To prevent collisions we show if another agent has already started replying to the customer, so you can avoid several team members replying to the same email.

How to connect your email?

Go to the Email tab in your agent dashboard and create a new mailbox. Choose your email provider and follow the instructions to forward a copy of your emails to Chatra.

Small improvements you asked for

We also made some minor improvements: redesigned the dashboard a little, moved the settings related to the chat window on your website to the Chat Widget tab, and added an option to copy a visitor’s email address in one click.

It’s also now possible to insert a saved reply during a chat even if you already started typing a message. Press Ctrl+M, if you are using Windows, or Cmd+J, if you are using Mac.

We have some exciting news for you today! Our most requested feature of all time is finally here:

Chatbot

The chatbot can interact with your website visitors through a sequence of pre-defined answers called "scenarios".

It can decrease the load on your team by providing automatic replies to frequently asked questions or collect information about visitors' needs before they are connected to human agents.

The bot scenarios can be created in a visual editor and launched via automatic triggers.

Team Chat

But that's not all. Since a lot of people are forced to work remotely now, we wanted to make team communication easier and launched team chat. It can be accessed from the Team chat tab in the Chatra dashboard.

By default, there are two channels: #General and #Random, where all agents are added automatically. Agents can join or leave channels and mute notifications from certain channels, and Admins can create new channels and manage the existing ones.

Both new features are available in the paid plan only. If you are using a free version and would like to give it a try, message us and we'll restart your free trial.

All of us are going through the uneasy times: change of plans, restrictions, and uncertainty. Many people have been forced to work from home. While we believe remote work has a lot of benefits (Chatra is a 100% remote company), it can still be challenging if the change is forced on you like that. Sometimes ago we've published a book on remote work that can be a nice read (and a nice distraction as well).

On our end, we continue to work on improving the product. Since launching the email integration (you should absolutely check it out), we've been working hard on adding more features to Chatra. This time, we've made our automatic triggers more powerful. Few things you can now do:

This one is a killer: catch visitors who are about to leave

"Exit-intent", well-known in the world of popups as an effective retention strategy, now comes to conversational commerce. Prevent visitors from leaving your website without making a purchase: detect when they are about to leave a page and automatically message them with a discount or a special offer.

To make things simpler, we've prepared two presets you can use to kick start your campaign: navigate to the "Targeted Chats & Triggers" and you'll find them at the bottom of the list. Edit the text to your liking and you are good to go. Chat with us if you need a hand!

Just as the other automatic triggers, the exit-intent option is available only on the paid plan, but drop us a line if you want to try it out - we can restart your free trial.

Target visitors from certain countries

Use the new "Visitor's location" condition to automatically send a message to visitors from certain countries. Inform your customers about special shipping options or local offers, or hide the chat from visitors from certain countries.

You can also target visitors from particular US states.

Use different triggers across mobile and desktop visitors

Another new condition, "Visitor's device type", allows you to separate triggers for desktop and mobile visitors.

Secure file transfer

You can now restrict what file types that your visitors send you can be downloaded by the agents, to avoid potentially dangerous files.
