About Verification
|

Join us – learn more about progressing CHS verification
We need to hear your views. Verification is the drive for change we want to see in the sector; applying, learning and improving our work towards achieving the commitments we make to people affected by crisis. We cannot thank CHS Alliance members enough for their efforts towards this.
However, this requires a verification process that works for the sector. CHS Alliance has been working on updating the current Verification Scheme. We are pleased to invite our members to join us to discuss the new Scheme, as well as our work with donors on their recognition of verification efforts on either 17 June at 10.00 or 18 June at 16.00 CEST.
Experts – we need you for our new CHS Verification Advisory Panel
We need expert advice! To keep our CHS Verification Scheme fit for purpose, the new scheme introduces an expert panel to oversee and guide the future of verification. We are seeking candidates for this panel. If you know anyone with excellent experience of quality assurance schemes, standard-setting or accountability frameworks, please share this link with them before 30 July, or get in touch with us if you have any questions.

360?degree accountability in Ethiopia
SOS Sahel felt that their local capacity was being undermined, ignored or overwhelmed due the strict grant compliance requirements of many international donors. In response, they decided to increase their capacity to make sure they were not overlooked by funders. A key part of this institutional building was joining CHS Alliance, and using the CHS to transform the way they operated.

Complaints in the time of COVID
|
During the COVID-19 crises, effective complaint mechanisms are more important than ever, with a perceived increase rather than a decrease in inappropriate behavior or gaps in programming and implementation, leading to complaints. We’re therefore pleased to announce that CHS Alliance and the Institute of Social Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam are partnering to research how COVID-19 has affected complaint, feedback, and response mechanisms. We ask you to fill in our survey before 5 June to contribute your thoughts. On 13 May 2020 Community World Service Asia and Act Church of Sweden facilitated a webinar on how these mechanisms can be conducted remotely in the context of COVID-19. We are working to bring our members findings from these pieces, as well as the guidance and good practice uncovered.

Improving the CHS for PSEAH
|
The CHS Alliance is unwavering in our commitment to protect people from sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment (PSEAH).
Since the CHS was launched, it is clear there are still considerable gaps in how the sector approaches PSEAH. As a result, the Alliance is reviewing and refreshing the CHS PSEA Index, its associated verification guidance, and the PSEA Implementation Quick Reference Handbook. We are pleased to be working with Jo Thomson and Belinda Lucas of Learning4 Development and Lucy Heaven Taylor of Global Child Protection Services on this update.
As part of the project, we are seeking members’ reflections and input into these important documents, if you’re part of our PSEAH CoP, look out for this survey coming soon and share your views. |

Non-disclosure agreements – CHS Alliance Guidance Note
|
Non-disclosure agreements, or NDAs, are not new and have been included in employment contracts for decades to prevent an employee divulging certain information to third parties. They are also used in settlement agreements to mutually agree to resolve the dispute and to not take the case to tribunal in exchange of the financial arrangement. Since late 2018, the scandals brought by #MeToo movement have revealed other controversial uses of NDAs, namely those used to silence whistle-blowers or victims of other kinds of wrongdoing. |
