A good plan is important for successful evaluation. Below, is a plan you can use as a baseline.

Your ClickHelp Evaluation Plan

Part 1: Quick and Easy Portal Setup

1. Select portal home page template.
   Log in to your portal, navigate to the Home page, and select one of the nice templates from the combo box on the left. Learn more on the Home page branding here.
2. Add your logo and favicon.
   In the top-left corner of the portal UI, you can see a drop zone. Drag & drop your company logo image there to make your portal look authentic. Learn more

Part 2: Content Creation Techniques

1. Project templates.
   Create your first documentation project by clicking Create Project on the Portal Dashboard page. In the wizard, choose a template, so you get ready styles applied. Learn more
2. WYSIWYG editor.
   Double-click the created project in the Projects list to open it. You will see the Table of Contents and the Topic Editor area. To learn how to create and edit content, check these help topics: 
   Arrange Topics in Table of Contents 
   Topic Editor 
   As you can see, the WYSIWYG editor is very similar to what you have in modern office applications like OpenOffice Writer or MS Word.
3. Standard content elements.
   When creating content, try inserting different content elements to see how they use the ready project style. Headings, numbered and bulleted lists, links - they will use the template style automatically. Learn more: Topic Content Styling.
4. Ready content blocks.
   Try inserting various ready elements to your topics - YouTube or Vimeo videos, warning and information boxes, expandable blocks, etc. Check the Insert tab of the editor''s ribbon bar. Learn more:

5. Create your first public manual.
   To learn how to publish your manual on the Internet, check this help topic.

Part 3: Dynamic Output and Single-sourcing

1. Variables.
   Configure global variables in the Portal Settings -> Variables under Single Sourcing section, and then insert them to your topics - check the Single-Sourcing tab of the editor''s ribbon bar.
2. Snippets.
   Insert one topic''s content into another topic''s body - use the Snippets group on the editor''s Single-Sourcing tab.
3. Conditional blocks.
   Use Output Tags to create conditional content blocks. They are useful when generating multiple slightly different outputs from the same project.
4. Conditional TOC nodes.
   The nodes of the table of contents can also be included or excluded when creating a publication. Learn more.

Part 4: Teamwork and Access Management

1. Invite colleagues to your portal.
   Go to "Tools | Users and Roles" to create user accounts for your co-workers. Learn about user roles here.
2. Use topic statuses.
   When you are in the topic editing mode, take a look at the top right corner of the topic editor. There, you can assign topics to other team members and change the topic status to reflect its movement through the workflow.
3. Configure e-mail notifications.
   To better collaborate on a project, enable e-mail notifications. Click on your profile image in the top right corner of the Portal Dashboard, select My Profile and go to Email Notification section.
4. Restricted manuals
   You already know that publications can have the Restricted visibility level. To read restricted manuals, readers need to log in using their Power Reader account. Learn more

Part 5: Content Review

1. Learn about typical review workflow. Review Workflow
2. Create a few Reviewer Accounts for your teammates, so they can contribute to your docs. Reviewer Roles and Permissions
3. Use review comments to add feedback to text fragments, resolve review comments when the requested changes are done. Using Review Comments

Part 6: Printed Output Formats

1. Supported export formats.
   When publishing, you can select to generate a PDF or DOCX version of your guide, this is an easy way to have both online and printed versions of your docs. Create a PDF Manual
2. Use a Word file as a template.
   When generating a PDF file from your docs, you can apply a custom Word template with your own printed styles of the pages. Export with Word Templates

A few days have passed since you started your trial. How is it going?

On top of the WYSIWYG editing functions, ClickHelp supports dynamic content elements. You can use variables in your content - once you change a variable value in the settings, it will update automatically in all your Projects that use it.

I hope you had a chance to check the Evaluation Plan I sent previously. Did you find it useful?

I guess you have already created some content in your ClickHelp trial portal. Note that ClickHelp can import content from CHM, DOCX, HTML and other formats. This will help you migrate your existing content faster.

Creating content is easy with our WYSIWYG editor - the interface and functionality is very similar to the text processors like MS Office or OpenOffice Writer.
