Top tips for finding available pitches

''Staycation'' is the buzzword this summer and many campsites are already fully booked. But there are still some spaces left for campers in need. Here are our top tips for finding a last-minute pitch...

Book mid week: Weekends may be full but many campsites still have mid-week space. If you''re on school holidays or have mid-week days off work, search for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights for the best chance of finding pitches.

Look for new openings: With festivals and large-scale weddings postponed this year, many venues are offering pop-up campsites instead. Some are only opening now, so keep an eye on our Brand New Campsites collection for the latest spaces.

Stretch out the summer: Long range forecasts predict early September could see above average temperatures this year and there''s plenty of camping availability across England, Wales and Scotland.

Plan ahead: The further in advance you can plan your holiday the more likely you''ll be to find space, so, wherever possible, be sure to book well in advance.

How we''re preparing for summer 2020

It's almost 14 years to the day since we published our first guidebook and, while we've always learned to adapt - from launching our website in 2009 to being amongst the first to take online bookings for campsites in 2015 - we've never quite come across a season like this. The last few months have reminded us exactly why we love the freedom of camping holidays and why, in particular, we love supporting the smaller, independent campsites that are at the heart of what we do.

Today, we''re sending a quick update on how we''re preparing for summer, so that, when the time comes, we can safely see you all back out there.

Our entire team is now working from home but we still meet up online, sharing our tales of camping in the garden and building duvet tents. ''Staycation'' is the buzzword this summer and many campsites are already fully booked. But there are still some spaces left for campers in need. Here are our top tips for finding a last-minute pitch...

Book mid week: Weekends may be full but many campsites still have mid-week space. If you''re on school holidays or have mid-week days off work, search for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights for the best chance of finding pitches.

Look for new openings: With festivals and large-scale weddings postponed this year, many venues are offering pop-up campsites instead. Some are only opening now, so keep an eye on our Brand New Campsites collection for the latest spaces.

Stretch out the summer: Long range forecasts predict early September could see above average temperatures this year and there''s plenty of camping availability across England, Wales and Scotland.

Plan ahead: The further in advance you can plan your holiday the more likely you''ll be to find space, so, wherever possible, be sure to book well in advance.
