An update to let you know we have now made it really easy for you to change the date of any of your CraftCourses bookings!

Once you have agreed an alternative date with your students, please go to:

Bookings > View booking > Edit date

Your Bookings

You will be able to see all the future dates of that course, available for you to select.

Once this is done, your student will receive confirmation of the course date change.

Our students have been asking us for years to make course bookings easier and more secure, so we have now built an online booking platform that does just this.

How it works:

Student chooses your course, picks a date and makes a booking request
They can use their payment card or CraftCourses gift vouchers (or any combination of the two) at checkout (so you no longer need to verify codes!)
You accept or reject the request (staying in control of your bookings)
Booking goes ahead and you get paid
They get an automatic review request
You get an unlimited supply of course listings for FREE!
You can still take out a subscription for Boosts, at a reduced price.

Please take a look in your account dashboard in the Bookings - new tab. To keep your course live in our site and searches, please join our Bookings platform by Monday 14th September*. Joining is very simple - just tick to accept and you're in!

Moving with the times and being adaptable is crucial to survival. And our student community demand that we be better, smoother, more secure, and easier to use.

2020, the year of change

We understand the impact that 2020 has had on the creative community and want to say a huge thank you to everyone for your support and inspiration this year. We know that many of you are still ''on hold'' and please rest assured we are here to help, once you are ready. A special thank you is owed to those who have joined our new booking platform, we are so grateful to have you on this journey with us and we are doing our best to help make it a busy and successful one.

As a small team of 6, with no investors, we have faced challenges like never before, but we continue to work hard alongside our community of makers and we have all met those challenges head on.

In the nearly 10 years this website has been live, every single penny it has ever made has been reinvested back in to improve what we can offer you. So we thought you might like to see what's going on behind the scenes and also give you an insight into the trends and traffic of the site right now.

I am happy to report that following the inevitable nosedive in March, traffic has recovered to the levels of summer 2019 and is increasing each month. Overall statistics for the previous 24 month period are:

Reviews

Still the most significant factor for attracting new bookings, reviews are essential. Now that we request them automatically following a course or order, we are collecting a greater number of these ''verified'' reviews, which are more valuable!

Bookings & gift vouchers

In April we launched our booking platform, which was piloted by several hundred tutors throughout the spring and summer. Since early November all listings are now taking bookings, allowing us to help ease the admin headache of the various lockdowns across the UK.

All bookings and orders can be paid or part paid with CraftCourses gift vouchers, with the student putting the code in at checkout. If the voucher is lower than your course fee, a top up is completed at checkout with their payment card. If their voucher is higher than your course fee, the change due is issued to them via voucher. Far less admin for you and easier all round

We offer a 3 month extension on all vouchers, that people can request and apply using this tool.

If a voucher is used to book a course that then gets cancelled the voucher has to be released from that booking, a further 3 months of validity will automatically be applied to give them plenty of time to choose something else. Once a voucher is booked on a course it cannot expire.

NEW! Amending bookings

Booking dates can now be amended, allowing a much greater degree of flexibility and easy postponement.

If you receive a booking request on a date that is no longer available, you can offer alternative dates to your prospective student. Once this new date is agreed, you go to View Booking, and then Edit the date. This will trigger an email to them confirming this date change and you can then accept the booking. You can also edit the date or a booking after it has been accepted.

NEW! Tiered cancellation policies

We know you need to keep your courses viable and that late cancellations can make this difficult, so we have introduced tiered cancellation policies so that you can choose the one that fits you best for each of your courses.

The cancellation policy of each course is clearly included at the point of payment and also on each of the booking emails sent to both you and your students.

Easy: Cancellation and a full refund up to 2 weeks before the course starts.

Medium: Cancellation and a full refund up to 4 weeks before the course starts.

Strict: Cancellation and a full refund up to 8 weeks before the course starts.

Unsurprisingly, interest in kits and online courses has increased, with a popular option being a kit + live online class. This format is also the most sought after by companies looking for creative events for their remote teams. For gifts and individuals, in-person workshops are still the most popular option.

If you would like an increase in traffic, (or have a new course or kit to launch) you can apply Boosts to get your listing(s) at the top of their categories as well as on our homepage. Boosts can be added on a monthly or annual plan and have been reduced in price!
