Create Brighter Futures

Dear Benjamin,

Sometimes life can change in an instant.

Elaine, a senior, became homeless when she left an abusive relationship. "I had nowhere to go, I have no family here," she said. Elaine was forced to live in her car, motels or shelters for over two years.

The need for safe shelter became even more urgent due to COVID-19. Elaine found help at Community Resource Center and worked with a CRC case manager to obtain a safe apartment and nutritious food. "I know that things are so much better because of CRC''s help," Elaine says. "And especially right now with Covid, it really is a godsend because I would still be on the street."

While all of us are exposed to the risk of COVID-19, people facing hunger, homelessness and domestic violence are even more vulnerable. I''m grateful you choose to help our neighbors like Elaine during these historic challenges through CRC.

Your gifts to our campaign – totaling almost $90,000 (wow!) – provide safety, shelter and food to the many individuals and families who need us now … and will need us in the coming months. Because of you, we can support their hope of a brighter future.

While the holidays will be different for all of us this year, those who are hungry, homeless or hurting are especially vulnerable at this time. The additional hardships caused by COVID-19 make holiday gifts even more out of reach. With your support, hundreds of local families and seniors can receive extra holiday help and hope this year.

Our 38th Annual Holiday Baskets will provide food, blankets and gift boxes to 1,100 households and seniors in need during a drive-thru, contactless distribution on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Create Brighter Futures

Dear Matthew,

Sometimes life can change in an instant.

Elaine, a senior, became homeless when she left an abusive relationship. "I had nowhere to go, I have no family here," she said. Elaine was forced to live in her car, motels or shelters for over two years.

The need for safe shelter became even more urgent due to COVID-19. Elaine found help at Community Resource Center and worked with a CRC case manager to obtain a safe apartment and nutritious food. "I know that things are so much better because of CRC''s help," Elaine says. "And especially right now with Covid, it really is a godsend because I would still be on the street."

While all of us are exposed to the risk of COVID-19, people facing hunger, homelessness and domestic violence are even more vulnerable. I''m grateful you choose to help our neighbors like Elaine during these historic challenges through CRC.

Your gifts to our campaign – totaling almost $90,000 (wow!) – provide safety, shelter and food to the many individuals and families who need us now … and will need us in the coming months. Because of you, we can support their hope of a brighter future.

Brighter Futures ›

Dear Benjamin,

A safe home is essential. As more and more of our neighbors face homelessness due to the pandemic, we are so grateful to supporters like you for helping us meet the growing need:

Sheltering the homeless: Since March 13, we have provided 5,361 emergency shelter nights at hotels for homeless families and individuals and 1,499 nights of shelter to survivors of domestic violence.

Preventing homelessness: This month, we launched a new partnership with the cities of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Encinitas to provide rental assistance to help prevent eviction and homelessness.

A generous donor has responded by matching $500 gifts to help give shelter to more families in need. If you are in a position to donate, please give today to provide double the help. We only need 10 more donors to receive the full $20,000 match. If you have already given, thank you for your generosity!

Below are a few stories of those who have already found brighter futures beginning with safe homes, as well as some updates from CRC. Thank you for partnering with us to make sure that those who are vulnerable right now have safe homes.

After living in her car for nearly three years, Anna shared: “When Chad [my case manager] told me we found a place to live, I immediately got off the phone with him and cried out thanking God ... A generous anonymous donor has stepped in to challenge us with a $500 matching gift opportunity to help give safe shelter to more families like Anna''s. Gifts of $500 will be matched one-to-one. That means that your gift of $500 becomes $1,000 to help give safe shelter to 14 homeless families for a night.

This is a true challenge match ... we need the help of 39 donors to make a gift of $500 each so we can receive the full $20,000 match.

Dear Matthew,

A safe home is essential. As more and more of our neighbors face homelessness due to the pandemic, we are so grateful to supporters like you for helping us meet the growing need:

Sheltering the homeless: Since March 13, we have provided 5,361 emergency shelter nights at hotels for homeless families and individuals and 1,499 nights of shelter to survivors of domestic violence.

Preventing homelessness: This month, we launched a new partnership with the cities of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Encinitas to provide rental assistance to help prevent eviction and homelessness.

A generous donor has responded by matching $500 gifts to help give shelter to more families in need. If you are in a position to donate, please give today to provide double the help. We only need 10 more donors to receive the full $20,000 match. If you have already given, thank you for your generosity!

Housing assistance available for Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside residents

This month, we launched a new partnership with the cities of Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside to provide residents of these areas with assistance to help prevent eviction and homelessness. Support could include short-term rental assistance, employment assistance and more.
