Hey C&W community,

My name is Kanchan and I'm the founder of C&W. I want to share some fun, exciting and terrifying news with you today - I wrote a book!! My book is about healing, mental health, and self work, because this is what my life has been focused on for the last few years. It consists of poetry, prose and conversations with my therapist - and it's my journey from self hatred to self love. 

A little back story: one year after starting C&W, I found myself severely depressed, anxious, afraid, and numb. I couldn't get out of bed for weeks, I was falling apart under the stress and pressure of having my own company, and I felt utterly worthless inside. I was struggling a lot, and I decided to seek help - so I started therapy and doing deep self work, and I wrote a book about my healing journey. 

So far, the publishers I've talked to are only interested in seeing a book about my "success" with the cat cafes, not something about mental health, poetry or healing. But I don''t want to tell the story of how I became successful in business - I want to tell a much greater story....the story of how I found self love and self acceptance. I wrote this book for others like me - people who feel like there is something missing within them, and for most of us, that missing thing won''t be found by finding greater success...but instead, by finding greater self understanding, self acceptance, and self love. The mental health crisis in the world today breaks my heart, and I believe healing is the most important thing we can do as humans so we can come back to who we really are - which is love, empathy, and kindness.

So even though I spent a couple of days doubting myself and crying about how I was told that my book wouldn't sell, I found solace in remembering that years ago, I was told that the cat cafe wouldn't work...and thanks to you, our cat cafes are on two coasts and have successfully saved the lives of thousands of cats! Honestly, I'll never be able to put into words how grateful I am for your love for C&W, and for giving me hope that new, unique ideas that have a purpose are valued in the world. 

Because you support Crumbs & Whiskers, I thought I would reach out to you to see if any of you might be interested in getting involved with my new project - a book that tells my story of therapy, mental health, and self work through poetry & prose. I'm currently considering self publishing my book, and I need a lot of help with it - editing, marketing, design, publishing, the whole nine. When my book is published, all the profits will be donated to Crumbs & Whiskers efforts to rescue more homeless cats.
