BEAST, our nonprofit dedicated to ending animal suffering across the world, is hosting a fundraising event for Australia on February 3rd. The event will be sponsored by our friends at Wild Turkey.

According to The New York Times,
"the New South Wales bushfires have scorched more than 15 million acres, killing one billion animals and pushing possibly as many as 100 threatened species closer to extinction."

All the event proceeds will be donated to WIRES, a wildlife nonprofit that is rescuing and caring for thousands of sick, injured and orphaned native animals.

Now that New York City has officially entered Phase 2, we are so excited to be one of few plant-based restaurants offering outdoor dining! We have been super charged the last few nights, it feels so good to get back to doing what we love to do. We believe good things are in store for our neighborhood and our community and we appreciate your continued support. The sidewalk garden has a warm glow with strung fire fly lights. Our patio is open every Wednesday - Sunday starting at 5pm. All reservations can be made online via Resy or directly through our website.

Safety is our top priority and we will be following all the city guidelines so we can all feel comfortable as we move towards Phase 3. For this weekend, each table will be set with a new disposable paper menu (we recycle!) and we will launch our QR menu option next week. Tables are set only with a clean bottle of hand sanitizer and all cutlery comes to you on a sealed, sterile plastic pouch. Our staff is constantly disinfecting, changing new gloves and wearing masks! Every time you dine with Avant Garden, you contribute directly to a great cause. We believe good things are in store for our neighborhood, for our community.. but we also know how necessary it is, not just to believe but to play an active role in that progress.

Every Wednesday through Sunday; 4pm - 6pm, we will be offering a Free Meal to anyone in need from our front door. The meals are hot, healthy and plant-based. What began as a service during the pandemic will continue for the foreseeable future. It has been a pleasure to connect and maintain these wonderful relationships with our neighbors.

Frank Cornelissen

Frank Cornelissen is the owner of 19 hectares of vines rather high up on Mount Etna. Although Frank is orginally from Belgium, one day at a restaurant in Sicily someone bought out a sample of wine from Etna. He immediately got in his car and drove round to the winery. Liking what he saw, he rented some vineyards on Etna and made wine in some abandoned sheds. This led to Frank buying an old ungrafted vineyard in 2001, which led to the creation of his first wines. These wines have quite the cult following so we always snag bottles when we can.

Roulot

Guy Roulot, a legendary producer of some of the finest Meursaults, if not some of the world's finest white wines, took his family's small production domaine to stardom. Guy's marriage to Genevi?ve Coche and his own hard work added more prime parcels to the family's holdings. The wines of Domaine Roulot are now among the most sought after wines in all of Burgundy. Jean-Marc is now the OG winemaker and has been successful in fine-tuning the domaine's particular, stand-out style. While Domaine Roulot had once pioneered the single-vineyard bottlings of Meursault, they are now influencing other domaines to follow suit, thereby raising the stakes in this exalted appellation. Quintarelli:
The estate of Giuseppe Quintarelli, the Veneto's most important producer, has received justifiable renown for its near-mythical Amarone. Giuseppe Quintarelli, known to many as The Master of the Veneto, was a perfectionist who practiced rigorous grape selection. He released his wines to market only when he deemed them ready-often many years after his fellow Veneto producers. He died in January 2012 at the age of 84, and his wife, Franca, passed a year later; his estate continues on in the hands of his children. The bottles are super special as they are some of the last vintages to be produced under his tutelage.

Arnaud and his wife, Marie-Odile, work primarily on their own to craft an exquisite range of micro-production white Burgundies from Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. Precision, purity, elegance, and finesse are the best descriptors of the Ente style. Their son Pierre is in the mix these days crushing them grapes with his feet! Their neighbors joke that they aren't sure how the Entes put food on the table when they observe such minuscule yields! These wines are super rare. In 2018 only 3000 bottles of the Meursault were produced and only about 500 bottles of the Puligny-Montrachet. ??

Drawn to the mountains and rumors of small, nearly inaccessible vineyard plots located high in the Sierra de Gredos, over time they began purchasing and leasing the best sites they could find, creating their own project, Comando G in 2008. The Marigny

Andrew Reginald Young left behind a career as a New Orleans rock drummer in 2012 to make low-intervention wines from cooler climate vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley. He works with a lot of carbonic maceration to keep the wines light, all fermented with native yeasts and minimal intervention in the winery. The name of the winery is and ammalgamation on his middle name, Reginald, and his neighborhood growing up in New Orleans, St Tammany Parish. Owner and winemaker Francis Egly took over from his father in 1982, after which he immediately converted the domaine to 100% estate bottling, and in the process became one the original pioneers in the grower Champagne movement. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, NYC has mandated all restaurants and bars to close. While we try to navigate through these difficult times, all our vegan restaurants will be open for delivery and takeout beginning on Wednesday, March 18. Avant Garden, Honeybee''s, Mother of Pearl, Ladybird and Night Music will be delivering Tuesday- Saturday from noon-9pm. Call us to order and we will give you 20% off your food delivery. Discounts for alcoholic beverages will be available as well.
Amor y Amargo East Village, Amor y Amargo Brooklyn, Death & Co. New York, Desnuda and Proletariat will remain closed indefinitely until further notice. Delivery & takeout menus will be available on our websites on Wednesday, March 18.

Free NYC Vegan Lunches for Public School Children

Due to mandated closures of all NYC schools, many children who rely on free school lunches are unable to receive a healthy meal. Derossi Global will be helping our local communities by providing free vegan lunches to children beginning on Tuesday, March 17th from 12-2pm.

The following pick up locations in the East Village are:

- Avant Garden at 130 East 7th Street
- Ladybird and Night Music at 111 East 7th Street
Monday-Friday 12-2pm
Meals are provided to children only, parents cannot pick up for a child and they must accompany a child for meals.

Executive Chef of Frenchie Paris and London, Frenchie Wine Bar & Frenchie ToGo for three years, a stint at Noma, Eleven Madison Park, Canlis in Seattle ( where Josh and Austin met so many years ago) and most recently opened the perfect mens salon in Bergdorf Goodman, Goodman''s this guy has not only cooked the entirety of his adult life in major spots, he also Alaskan Salmon Fished for two seasons with no experience prior. Needless to say, walking away with all that experience has set Austin up for his own restaurant debut in Tribeca this spring. Austin has a way of rethinking French food in the most delicate and delicious of ways, while calling on his techniques he''s picked up from around the world.

Overthrow Hospitality will be hosting a socially distanced Trick-or-Treat Halloween festival for children ages 12 and under. The event will take place on Saturday, October 31st, 2020 from 2-4PM on East 7th Street between Avenue A & 1st Avenue. Candy will be safety distributed through 6 foot long candy chutes into candy bags provided by us!

IMPORTANT DETAILS BELOW

Children accompanied by a parent or guardian are invited to trick or treat safely and socially distanced, with masks being required.

Adults will be able to sit in designated viewing stations to watch children with complimentary mulled wine and spiced cider.

Costumes are welcome, but not required.

Masks and social distancing protocols will be enforced by volunteer community members as well as staggered entrance and exit times for participants.

Please use the Avenue A side for entry.

We''d like to thank you all for the donations we''ve received for our Feeding NYC Public School Children GoFundMe campaign. With your tremendous support we were able to expand our free meals to not only NYC children but to anyone who needed a free healthy plant-based meal. We''ve been feeding 500-1000 people a week and we do not intend to stop now.

To continue our Free Meals program, we need your help to keep the momentum going. Let''s keep raising money to help support our community during these uncertain times. COVID-19 MANDATED CLOSURES

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, NYC has mandated all restaurants and bars to close. While we try to navigate through these difficult times, all our vegan restaurants will be open for delivery and takeout beginning on Wednesday, March 18. Avant Garden, Honeybee''s, Mother of Pearl, Ladybird and Night Music will be delivering Tuesday- Saturday from noon-9pm. Call us to order and we will give you 20% off your food delivery. Discounts for alcoholic beverages will be available as well.
Our bars Amor y Amargo East Village, Amor y Amargo Brooklyn, Death & Co. New York, and Proletariat will remain closed indefinitely until further notice. Delivery & takeout menus will be available on our websites on Wednesday, March 18.

We hope to support our staff by keeping our kitchens open. Free NYC Vegan Lunches for Public School Children

Due to mandated closures of all NYC schools, many children who rely on free school lunches are unable to receive a healthy meal. Derossi Global will be helping our local communities by providing free vegan lunches to children beginning on Tuesday, March 17th from 12-2pm.

The following pick up locations in the East Village are:
- Honeybee''s and Mother of Pearl at 95 Avenue A
- Avant Garden at 130 East 7th Street
- Ladybird and Night Music at 111 East 7th Street
Monday-Friday 12-2pm
Meals are provided to children only, parents cannot pick up for a child and they must accompany a child for meals.

On Christmas Eve, we will be serving free, plant-based three-course meals to anyone in the community who would like one.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have served over 40,000 free meals to those in need and we want to continue doing so. Three courses - appetizer, entr?e, and dessert - will be packaged for pick-up from 2-6 PM at Amor Y Amargo, located at 443 East 6th Street.
