Friend,
Today is February 4, 2020. The primary is now in full swing, but we don’t have any time to waste to fight the climate crisis. The California Primary is only 28 days away! This week, many of us will receive our vote by mail ballots. We can collectively make this year a turning point in our fight to protect our environment, and build a more equitable, healthy California. That is why your vote is as important as ever. Over the next 28 days, there are many ways you can help us protect California’s environment and demonstrate global leadership against the climate crisis. First, vote for the environment. From Assembly to State Senate to Congress, make your selection the environmental choice! As a CLCV member, you get a first-hand look into the candidates CLCV has thoroughly vetted and endorsed because they will fight for our environment and our future. To see the candidates CLCV has endorsed for this primary, please CLICK HERE. Big Oil is spending more than ever to buy seats in the legislature because they know their time is short. They are doing everything they can to impede our fight to transition from dirty fossil fuels to the prosperous, clean, zero-emission economy California is becoming. Don’t let Big Oil succeed in buying these seats. Stop them by voting for our climate crisis fighting candidates! Second, volunteer to get out the vote for CLCV’s endorsed candidates. CLCV will be supporting our endorsed candidates by volunteering to knock on doors in their districts. To sign up to volunteer, contact our Campaign & Organizing Manager Matt Abularach-Macias at mattam@ecovote.org. Last but not least, we can only take on Big Oil’s dark money and continue our fight against the climate crisis with YOUR support. Please help us elect environmental champions by supporting CLCV TODAY! Together, we can change what is possible and build the political power to ensure a better future for all Californians. Please, remember to vote by March 3rd and vote the environment! In solidarity, Mike Young Political & Organizing Director California League of Conservation Voters

Dear Friend,
We need your voice and your vote. Our democracy depends on it. That’s why I’m proud to be joining the California League of Conservation Voters in making sure you know about the great and many ways we’ve been working to ensure voting is as easy and accessible as possible.
Did you know you can vote starting today – even if you don’t vote by mail?
You can drop off your ballot at any polling place or vote center, or your county elections office, through Election Day.
Our brand new vote centers will be open every day through Monday, March 2nd across your county from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
On Election Day, Tuesday, March 3rd the voting centers will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Unlike your former polling place, you can go to the vote center that is most convenient for you and still vote for the races where you live. Register to vote. Update your registration. Cast your ballot. You can do everything there quickly and conveniently.
<<Click here to find a vote center near you.>>
What if you like to vote by mail? Nothing’s changed.
Place your ballot in the mail by March 3rd, so long as it’s received within three days of the election, your vote will count. Or you can always go to a vote center and cast your ballot there instead.
Have any questions about how or where to vote? Here are some of the most frequent ones we get asked, and if you still have a question, please contact my office.
Lastly, know your rights. Our government only works when democracy works, and democracy only works when we’re all engaged in it.
Make a plan to vote. Thank you for participating in our elections, and happy voting!
Alex Padilla
California Secretary of State

Today is Juneteenth - the oldest holiday marking the emancipation of the last enslaved Africans in the United States. It's a day not only for celebration, but for reflection; on Juneteenth, we take time to consider the destructive legacy of slavery -even more than 150 years after emancipation- and examine the role of white supremacy in our daily lives. Above all, today is a day to commit to anti-racist work to create the equitable world we all deserve.? The recent protests across the United States have forced a long-overdue reckoning with the white supremacy at our country's core. Despite whatever progress we might believe we've made, racist ideas, assumptions, and practices infect every element of American life. If we're going to address the moral failure of our country, then we all have to take an honest, difficult, look in the mirror. That means that we, members of the environmental movement, need to face some hard truths. Racism permeates every part of our culture, society, and interactions. It's in the air we breathe. We need to stop being scared of being called racist, and we need to be more concerned about how we are perpetuating racism. Educating ourselves, understanding how we contribute to white supremacy, and actively working to dismantle racism, is part of the process. We are planning a series of educational emails and blog posts on white privilege, the intersectional approach necessary for our movement, and tools for your own digital organizing. On social media, we will continue much of our messaging to uplifting Black, Indigenous, people of color who are working to protect our planet and our communities. We're refusing to look away from these facts, CLCV Member, and more importantly, we are committed to building an environmental movement that fights for all people - a movement that sees climate action and anti-racism as inextricably linked, and that searches for integrated solutions.?? CLCV is focused on putting our resources behind policy action to directly address our racist and unjust criminal legal system. We are doubling down on the racial justice and equity work we've been doing internally with our staff and board, and we are working with our endorsed candidates to connect them with education and training required to directly serve all of their constituents. We must bridge the gap between learning and action, and we cannot fight for climate justice without fighting for racial justice. We will continue to provide our members the necessary resources, and we ask for your courage to address racism and environmental injustice in your own community. Today, on Juneteenth, we pledge that we will be listening, learning, and taking action right beside you.?? As always, we're proud to stand by your side in this movement, and this moment. Best, Mary Creasman Chief Executive Officer? California League of Conservation Voters ?

During this unprecedented time, we understand that you have a lot on your plate. However, with just ten years to enact real change, the urgency of our climate crisis remains pertinent.?? ?We are currently witnessing one of the largest extinction events in the history of our planet, with 14% of birds, 25% of mammals and 40% of amphibians already on the path to extinctions.?California is a global biodiversity hotspot, so we as a state have much more to lose. In order to preserve California's biodiversity, increase our resilience to the impacts of climate change, and enhance access to nature for all people California must pass AB 3030 which will commit us to statewide goal of protecting at least 30% of land, waters, and oceans by 2030 (30 by 30).? ?AB 3030 is a science-backed goal that will not only safeguard biodiversity, but will conserve natural spaces for future generations.? ?The scientific community across the world is calling on the global leaders to commit to conserving more of Earth's lands, waters, and oceans in order to combat climate change, protect clean water, increase nature's abilities to buffer communities from climate change fueled natural disasters, protect biodiversity, and protect our food system, all of which have a direct impact on human health. As a global leader in climate action, California must adopt this important conservation target. Passing?AB 3030 this year will set us on a path to conserving 30% of land and 30% of oceans by 2030. ? ACT NOW! Single-use plastic products and packaging are piling up in our landfills, blighting our neighborhoods, clogging our rivers and streams, and harming human and wildlife health, but we have a chance to reverse this mess.? We have to fight back now, while there's still time.? Since the COVID-19 pandemic has started we've seen all seen an enormous increase in the amount of disposable, non-recyclable plastic waste in our lives. We cannot wait another year to take action on plastic pollution!? Help California cut back on single-use plastic waste in California by showing your support TODAY for SB 54 & AB 1080 - the California Circular Economy and Plastic Pollution Reduction Act. This proposed law will reduce single-use plastic packaging and disposable plastic to-go food ware in California by 75% - and it will ensure that remaining items are reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2032.?? We all know the current president is pushing to roll back every environmental policy on the books. But here in California as we are grappling with a public health crisis, corporate interests including the oil and gas industry have been hard at work organizing our legislators on rollbacks as well.?? Meet the six lawmakers who are pushing for California environmental rollbacks. We're taking an important step today to bring to light what's happening out of public view in Sacramento. We're launching NO Rollbacks, a website and accountability campaign to hold our leaders accountable for their votes and positions.?? The site currently features six legislators who are particularly problematic and who have been leading efforts to get other legislators to sign onto letters requesting to suspend the implementation of important climate and clean air laws that you already fought to become law. These same legislators are heavily funded by Big Oil and Gas, and for many their anti-environment work is deeply out of step with the views of their constituents. We will be tracking each legislator''s position on clean air and climate standards; oil, gas, and transportation; environmental protections for California workers; and support for our air, land and water. And we may include more legislators over the coming months.?? Most Californians see the COVID crisis as a reminder for why we need clean air protections that also protect public health. But unless we provide accountability, corporate polluters will use this as a means to weaken California's climate efforts, and make already vulnerable communities more vulnerable to this pandemic and its wide-reaching impacts.? CLCV Member, please take a moment to sign the No Rollbacks pledge and share on social media. This is a critical moment for California to protect our future and demand bold action from our leadership.?? Take the No Rollbacks pledge! ? Best, Mary Creasman Chief Executive Officer? At this moment we are all feeling the impacts of the very present climate crisis. These are uncertain and scary times. While we are grappling with a worsening pandemic, now Californians are facing displacement, pollution, extreme heat, blackouts and more. What's most heartbreaking is that this climate chaos is preventable; it is a direct result of our incessant burning of fossil fuels. Tell Assembly leadership TODAY that we need climate action on transportation - we know what needs to be done and we need leadership that will step up.? If we cut carbon pollution we can slow the climate crisis and avoid the most catastrophic impacts. Do you know the biggest source of carbon pollution? You guessed it - transportation. Our gas fueled cars, trucks and busses. Yet, California has failed to make any of the big changes to our transportation infrastructure that are needed. And one legislator in particular has single handedly stopped bill after bill focused on clean transportation efforts. Jim Frazier is the Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee, a committee that in recent years is where clean transportation and transit policy proposals are killed. Assemblymember Frazier refuses to lead on a clean transportation future and our communities are suffering as a result.? Frazier has gone so far as to write a letter as Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee asking the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to suspend and delay the development and implementation of pollution regulations.? California cannot afford more inaction on the climate crisis, our lives, livelihoods and communities are at stake.? Tell Jim Frazier & the Assembly- California's family's need climate action on transportation NOW.?? Best,?? Mary Creasman?

This month the Great American Outdoors Act will be taken up in the Senate and sent to the House of Representatives. However, the fight is not over - we are looking to the House of Representatives to ensure this bill becomes law!? As this important piece of legislation moves forward, we need Speaker Pelosi to usher this bill through the House and provide full funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). LWCF will help expand access to the outdoors and protect our public lands for future generations. This legislation will fuel economic growth and development in the over 40,000 state and local parks supported by LWCF. These public lands support over 7 million American jobs and create billions of dollars in economic output for communities across the country. Investing in LWCF is an investment in the economic lifeblood of many communities.? The bipartisan support of this legislation shows it is an obvious win for our country. Access to the outdoors is an integral part of the American experience. America's public lands make our communities stronger and more resilient - and making sure all Americans have access to outdoor green spaces to exercise and find comfort should be an essential part of our collective national recovery. Urge Speaker Pelosi to take full funding for LWCF across the finish line.?? See you outside,? Mary Creasman?Chief Executive Officer? California League of Conservation Voters ?

Research shows that COVID-19 is heavily impacting communities living in high pollution areas. Oil and gas wells across the state are burning fossil fuels and creating extreme public health risks. The costs of living near oil and gas wells include risk of cancer, asthma, and preterm birth, as well as risk of water contamination, oil spills and explosions.? These wells are predominantly located in communities of color - the same communities that are at the highest risk of contracting COVID-19. Now is the time to take steps to protect the health of communities across California, which is why we are supporting Assembly Bill 345, introduced by Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi.??? Can you join us? >>>? AB 345 creates health and safety buffer zones by requiring a minimum setback distance between dangerous and hazardous oil and gas extraction wells and homes, schools, daycares, playgrounds, hospitals, and health clinics. The passage of AB 345 will bring us closer to protecting children and families from the hazards of living near an oil and gas well. In January with your help, we passed AB 345 out of the State Assembly. Today, we need your help to send a strong message to legislators - we need oil setbacks now more than ever; our health depends on it.? The fight is not over, urge your senator to vote YES on AB 345.? Sadly, late last week we learned that instead of helping the American people during a global pandemic, our federal government decided to?suspend all enforcement actions?by?the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).?This means oil refineries, chemical plants, coal-fired power stations and other polluters will now be allowed to pump toxic chemicals into our air and water, not only so, but the waiver will make?it?impossible to fully assess the environmental damage of their reckless actions.?I think we?can all agree this is an egregious response to our current pandemic! ? It's clear where the Trump administration's priorities lie. Instead of leading us through this crisis, the Trump Administration gave Big Oil and corporate polluters a free pass to avoid the laws and harm our communities.
This is outrageous. What is the administration thinking? Air pollution increases our vulnerability to respiratory diseases and infections. Dirty corporate interests are continuing their efforts to lobby our government to weaken environmental safeguards, but now, especially, is not the time to prioritize polluters over the health of our communities. ? Pitch in to support CLCV as we hold our leaders accountable, if you can.?Even?in these uncertain times, we need your help to make sure decisions move us all?forward, not backwards.? ? Our hearts and thoughts remain with you. We're grateful for your support, and we hope you stay safe and healthy!?? ? In solidarity,

The Electoral College has officially solidified America's choice of Joe Biden as the 46th President-Elect of the United States. While this is great news for us, we have known for a while that President-Elect Biden won the popular vote. So, why do we continue to rely on this antiquated system to solidify the results?? We think it's time to abolish the Electoral College.?? The origins of the Electoral College are steeped in racism. Southern states, who held 93% of the country's slave population, found themselves at a major disadvantage within a popular voting system. As a result, the three-fifths compromise was born, boosting the south's congressional delegation by 42%. The increased delegates used the three-fifths compromise as the foundation for the system we now use in choosing our president. More than two centuries later, the Electoral College continues to empower southern white voters while submerging black votes. Even though black voters make up much of the southern population, their preferred presidential candidate is almost assured to lose their home states' electoral votes.? Learn more on how these structures are working against Black voters. Democracy and justice require we take on this fight.? Throughout our election history, five presidential candidates have won the popular vote, but lost the Electoral College. Two of them have been our last three presidents! We all remember the 2016 election and watching as Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by three million and still lost because of the Electoral College. President-elect Biden won the popular vote by more than 5 million and won almost the same number of electoral votes. A record, historic number of Americans voted, in the midst of a pandemic. A surge of young voters turned out around the country, many for the first time. If every vote counts, why aren't we valuing every vote equally? It's time to protect the votes of all Americans. We implore you to join us in the movement to protect and strengthen our democracy. Add your name: it's time to abolish the electoral college. ?? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? In solidarity,? For far too long, the white environmental movement has tried to separate issues of race from environmental work, but we know that concern for the Earth cannot be separated from the treatment of its people. Just as a moving river will carry you downstream unless you fight it, an unfair system rooted in racism will privilege whiteness unless you actively work against it.??? This is why we are continuing our series of emails and sharing information on our history to ground us in our current call to action.?? We understand our country was founded on white supremacy, yet the conservation movement has not only refused to confront white supremacy, but??actively furthered it. While it coalesced at the start of the 20th century, its leaders preached kinship with animal and plant life even as they led thought leadership on dehumanizing Black, Indigenous, and people of color - often in the same breath.?? ??? The origins of the white-led environmental movement left little room for people of color in leadership positions (as recently as 2014, fully 89 percent of leadership positions in environmental organizations were held by white folks), which in turn perpetuated institutional racism and created massive blind spots for the environmental movement. For decades, environmentalists championed policies that ignored the environmental realities, leadership, and needs of Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color. Our laws, infrastructure, and advocacy ignored the toxic air and water and lack of green space channeled into communities of color.? ??? Now, as we are reminded - once again, and with deadly clarity - for people of color, and Black Americans in particular, even the simple act of going for a walk or even bird watching can be life-threatening.?? Environmental justice is not colorblind.?To move forward on any other assumption is not only unsustainable and wrongheaded; it's dangerous. We must develop a new intersectional approach to our movement- an approach which integrates the experiences of marginalized communities into every conversation. These are the communities most affected by the climate crisis and fighting for a green agenda without considering its disparate racial impact all but guarantees that Black, Indigenous, and communities of color will be further harmed.??? As a white leader, it is my responsibility to ensure this organization does the work of uplifting Black and Brown voices, while advocating for environmental reparations. CLCV has made a commitment to facing our history and taking action -?fighting upstream to act on the belief that to be truly pro-environment we must also be anti-racist. Not some of the time; all of the time.? This work is not easy, it requires a deep interpersonal work and reflection, and integration of these values into our policy, programming, partnerships, and operations. We will continue to provide our members the necessary resources, and we ask for your courage to address racism and environmental injustice in your own community.??? In our latest blog post, we have compiled a list of resources for our members to learn more about the history of racism in conservation and environmental movements. ? CLCV Member, use this as your starting point for bridging the gap between learning and action- study the books, read articles, watch videos, and listen to podcasts. Take responsibility for your own learning and growth, and we are here to provide resources and support along the way.?? Thank you for being with us in the fight against racism and the fight for our future.??? Best, Mary Creasman Chief Executive Officer? California League of Conservation Voters ?

As if things couldn't get any worse, the Trump administration is back at it again in attempting to exploit a crisis and rollback critical environmental protections. This week, the administration announced a new rule?that would allow vehicles on American roads to emit nearly a billion tons more carbon dioxide over the cars' lifetime. Last week, Trump''s EPA?used the coronavirus as an excuse to indefinitely stop enforcing environmental laws.? ? Today, Trump will be meeting with seven oil executives - ?and?what do you think they will ask for? A bailout for the most polluting industry in history! ? Friend, we need your help now more than ever. Can you call your Congressional Representative and urge them to keep the Trump administration accountable and avoid a bailout for Big Oil? ? We can't let the Trump administration continue these attacks on the environment and our health when they should be focusing on bigger things at hand (like responding to a global pandemic).?We need to hold them accountable! ? We can't allow corporate polluters take advantage of this vulnerable time and move us backwards. We won't stop fighting for our future. ? Like always, we're grateful for your support. The wellbeing of our planet has been in consistent decline, and we only have 10 years to take critical action to solve our climate crisis. Right now, as the state legislature is tackling a pandemic and current public health crisis - our representatives also have the ability to push forward legislation to protect our future.? We need your help to move Assembly Bill 3030 forward.?This legislation, introduced by?Assemblymember Ash Kalra, will make a commitment to conserve 30% of our planet's land and oceans by 2030. This is major! Why does this matter??Well, did you know that biodiversity is linked with economic, social and environmental well-being, and loss of biodiversity has been connected to habitat loss, pollution, overexploitation, invasive species, and climate change?? While Germany and the UK have already committed to a 30% conservation goal,?the U.S is lagging behind. This is where you come in. We need your help to protect our planet's biodiversity and future well-being. It is critical for states to lead in this fight, and California, at no surprise, already has legislation before the state legislator. <<< Can you sign our petition to urge the Assembly Natural Resources Committee to vote YES on conserving California's natural spaces to protect biodiversity and for future generations?>>>? AB 3030 is not only realistic, but necessary:?
Urge the Assembly Natural Resources Committee to vote YES on conserving California's natural spaces to protect biodiversity and for future generations. Preserving biodiversity is crucial for public health, which is undeniably interconnected with the health of the environment. Implementing AB 3030 is crucial to protect biodiversity, halt extinction rates, and mitigate the economic and social costs of climate change In solidarity,? ? In the past few weeks, COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on communities, families and small businesses. Similar to the climate crisis, the effects of this pandemic worsened as government officials ignored science. We need to elect a leader who believes science and listens to experts. The November election is about more than winning back the White House. With 10 years left to act on the climate crisis, this election will decide if we will make the changes needed in our economy and infrastructure in time. We can't protect our earth with Donald Trump in office. ? That's why we are endorsing Joe Biden for president.? We wanted to make sure you saw our recent OpEd on why Joe Biden is the candidate to change what is possible on the climate crisis. Today, the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) announced a new fundraising initiative to deepen the participation of philanthropic members in the lifeblood of CLCV's work. The CLCV?Eco Power Caucus?is a new membership group comprised of individual and organizational donors who prioritize the environment and demand bold climate action from their elected leaders, during the 2020 election cycle and beyond. "CLCV represents 150,000 members across the state who believe in the core value of its work to build power to change what is possible to improve our democracy and push forward bold environmental policy,"?said Mary Creasman CEO of the California League of Conservation Voters and CLCV Education Fund.?"The Eco Power Caucus will allow us to partner directly with contributing members to bring our work to communities throughout California and organize for climate action." In response to COVID-19, CLCV has developed new avenues to raise funds in an environment in which traditional events have not been possible. The Eco Power Caucus provides a way for our most dedicated supporters to continue to support CLCV's work and engage with CLCV and each other through virtual events. The Caucus also provides an opportunity for our team to work closely with these supporters to organize and engage them in our priority advocacy efforts. ? Funds raised provide essential resources for CLCV's strategic priorities which include electing environmental champions, holding our elected officials accountable to the public, educating the electorate on the most pressing environmental issues, and building electoral power across all regions of the State of California.? "Environmental leadership starts at CLCV. They are my go-to group for identifying new and innovative policy proposals to combat the climate crisis and to strengthen protections for clean air and water for our communities," ?said Ash Kalra, California State Assemblymember?(D-San Jose).? "CLCV's work is critical, now more than ever, and I am proud to support their efforts to create a just and clean economy,"?said California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon.?"In order to build power in our state and nationally, we need to build a movement that prioritizes organizing and building communities up. This is the work that CLCV is doing, day and night, and the Eco Power Caucus is necessary to those efforts."? The Eco Power Caucus kicks off on Thursday, June 25th at 12:30 PT with a virtual event featuring U.S. Congressmember Mike Levin: California's Clean Energy Congressional Champion.??Those interested in attending can RSVP at?events@ecovote.org. As legislators returned to Sacramento to work on pressing issues, so did corporate lobbyists! Right now, legislators are contemplating a bill that would bail out a corporation at the expense endangered species, wildlife, sacred sites, and communities in the desert valley near Joshua Tree National Park. AB 2255 seeks to require taxpayers and public utilities to fund the $2.5 billion?Eagle?Crest?Project, even if they would not directly benefit from it.??? This is simply bad policy for California. The?Eagle?Crest?project would extract thousands of acre-feet of ice-age groundwater from an arid desert valley directly next to Joshua Tree National Park. The water would then be stored in uncovered reservoirs where it would rapidly evaporate, requiring continued pumping of aquifers.?The National Park Service already concluded that the?Eagle?Crest project "would cause damaging overdraft conditions" by over-pumping groundwater from an already over-drafted aquifer.?? Just last year we finally won the fight against the Cadiz water project in the Mojave Desert. We need the legislature to once again reject an attempt to privatize California's precious desert resources. <<< We need your help to prevent the bill from moving forward! >>> Can we count on your to urge the?Assembly Natural Resources Committee?and your legislator to vote NO on AB 2255? We are strong supporters of renewable energy initiatives when they are economically and environmentally justified. However, this project will destroy sensitive ecosystems! We can't stand for this. We need swift action, now. If this legislation passes it will cost tax-payers $2.5 billion and cause irreparable damage to Joshua Tree National Park. <<< Act right now: call your Assemblymember now and urge them to OPPOSE AB 2255.?>>> Don't sit this one out, Melissa Romero Legislative Affairs Manager

Tell Jim Frazier & the Assembly- California's families need climate action on transportation NOW.?? Best,?? Mary Creasman?

For some, this past week's record high temperatures and rolling blackouts were an inconvenience. For others, it is a matter of life and death being exacerbated by reactive actions to roll back restrictions on the very fossil fuels that got us to this place. Corporate polluters have gone so far as to blame the recent blackouts on the shift to renewable energy.? The truth is simple, we are in the midst of the climate crisis and fossil fuels are a major reason why. We need our elected officials to double down on their commitment to clean energy and fighting this climate crisis, now is not the time for rollbacks. A recent article from the LA Times made the message even more clear, "The blackouts are a reason not for California to back away from its commitment to building a sustainable power grid, but to do a better job of making the transition."? The climate crisis isn't on hold just because we are in a pandemic, and what's clear is how unprepared we are for this crisis that repeats every year. Californians are facing wildfires (and fire tornadoes), toxic air, record heat, rolling blackouts, an oil refinery explosion, thunderstorms, and thousands of gallons of sewage being dumped into our water. We need to do everything we can in this moment to protect families and our most vulnerable populations, and that means protecting communities most impacted by waiving our clean air rules to allow for diesel generators to exacerbate the problem. We cannot allow polluting industries to shift the blame from fossil fuels to renewable energy.? It's time for our state government to create a path forward that rebuilds our economy in a way that is green and just and that makes us more resilient and stops the most catastrophic scenario. We don't have time to wait, the lives of Californians are on the line. Tell your Legislator to double down on their commitment to protecting our lives and our future!? In Solidarity,? As an organization deeply committed to racial justice and equity and building an anti-racist movement, we stand strong with Black community members who are using their voice and platforms to say: enough. For far too long Black children, women, men, queer and trans Americans have been murdered at the hands of police. For far too long Black?Americans?have suffered their loss and used their voices to organize and emphasize that Black Lives Matter. Enough is enough. Yet injustice, bigotry, and anti-blackness continues. We need justice, we need police reform, and we all need to do and be better.? Silence on Anti-Black Racism is unacceptable. We are committed to fighting systemic racism and call on our members to speak up to make sure the names of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery Taylor, Michael Brown, Tony Robinson, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Philando Castile, Trayvon Martin, and the thousands of Black Americans who have been wrongfully murdered by police and fellow Americans are remembered. It is incumbent on our government leaders and all of us to take the necessary actions to bring change to our system. We need your help. While we are all focusing on the pandemic, corporate polluters are fully exploiting the crisis. Through the course of this crisis, the Trump administration has made it pretty clear whose side they are on (hint: it is not the environment). Here are a number of ways corporate polluters are taking advantage of the pandemic:
We cannot allow corporate polluters to take advantage of COVID-19. We have been given the opportunity to re-evaluate our ways of life and transform our economy. Moving toward a sustainable and clean future will not only create new opportunities, but protect the future of our planet. We cannot fight against Big Oil and corporate polluters alone. <<< Can you pitch in $5 to support our movement? >>> We only have 10 years to lessen the impacts of the climate crisis. We can't solve the coronavirus crisis by going backwards on climate action. As always, thank you for your support! In solidarity, Jennifer Molina? Communications Director?

Sadly, we just learned that instead of helping the American people during a global pandemic, our federal government decided to?suspend all enforcement actions?by?the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).?This means oil refineries, chemical plants, coal-fired power stations and other polluters will now be allowed to pump toxic chemicals into our air and water, not only so, but the waiver will make?it?impossible to fully assess the environmental damage of their reckless actions.?I think we?can all agree this is an egregious response to our current pandemic!

AND this is your last chance to sign our petition before tomorrow''s committee hearing!
Implementing AB 3030 is crucial to protect biodiversity, halt extinction rates, and mitigate the economic and social costs of climate change.
