Hi , Christa here! If you've been following along, you know this past year has been one massive cluster. Here at El Guapo, we went from rolling out pallets in 24 Costco stores last January , to losing our Costco rotation indefinitely so they had more room for toilet paper (no shit!), to ALL of our independent bar & restaurant partners closing across the country , to laying off our entire team , to flipping the business model to focus on D2C within 48 hours , only to say just kidding nobody is laid off two days after that , to working our asses off through a lot of fear, doubt, anxiety & major supply chain issues , to TRIPLING the size of the company in 9 months even though a live opossum fell through the ceiling of our kitchen one day & we all nearly died . Hello, fancy anxiety!
This year, we're focused on scaling manufacturing to keep up. If you've ordered lately, maybe you've noticed your boxes are arriving a bit more slowly.
Real Talk: it''s in large part due to COVID protocols & carrier capacity issues beyond our control, but y''all are also buying bitters as fast as we can make them, and we love you for it. ??
But, I'm in this to win this so for the next 4 months, our team will be working with The Idea Village to scale our manufacturing operation. That''s right - we don''t use co-packers. Every single bottle is made by hand right here in the very building where I''m typing this letter right now. I really should write a book about all of it. How is this even life right now? The VillageX antics begin 1/19.
We appreciate your loyalty and support during this weird and worrisome time for small business more than we can eloquently articulate. Wishing you health and happiness in this New Year as well as the most delicious, socially distant Mardi Gras season. Festive recipes coming soon.
