Meet Cristina Sassot
Director of Admissions at Esade Business School |
What book are you reading now?
Right now, I am reading The North Face of the Heart by Dolores Redondo. During the lockdown, I have had a lot of time to read. I couldn’t put her Trilogía del Baztán down, and, after taking a break from crime novels for a few books, I have come back to them with this one. |
What is your role at Esade?
I am currently Director of Operations & Strategy for Recruitment & Admissions for the MBA and Masters of Science in Management programmes at Esade. |
What is the thing you like the most about your job?
I like a lot of things about my job. The Recruitment & Admissions team is simply spectacular in terms of its passion, professionalism and level of commitment, and Esade, as an organisation, is a fantastic place to work. But at the top of the list I would probably have to place the impact we have on the lives of the candidates who pass through our hands. The transformation process they undergo over the course of the programme is impressive, and it is very satisfying to bear witness to how our programmes have helped them achieve their personal and professional goals. |
What is one of your goals, either personal, professional or both?
Personally, my goal is to achieve a better work-life balance. It may not seem all that ambitious, but it is actually quite hard. Professionally, I want to continue helping to select the best possible talent, which is the best way to position Esade internationally as a prestigious and quality school. |
Tell us something about yourself that we don’t know (yet).
When I sneeze, I always, without fail, do it at least twice and usually three times. |
Who or what inspires you?
This answer is not very original (even less than my previous ones), but my mother inspires me. She is the embodiment of integrity, strength, resilience, generosity, infinite dedication and unconditional love. In fact, as I write this answer, I am wondering if I should change my answer to the third question. I think my personal goal should be to be 10% of the person my mother is. If I could do that, I would be satisfied. |

What is the most valuable lesson you have learnt during the COVID-19 crisis?
That crisis situations bring out the best in people! I would say that. |
What is the first thing you will do now that the lockdown is coming to an end?
I’m starting to think I may have a bit of post-lockdown anxiety, because I am not thinking about taking major trips or organising or attending large events. I’m eager to get back to seeing my family again, to having dinner with friends or breakfast at an outdoor café at the weekend. The lockdown has been very hard, and we need to be cautious and not let ourselves get carried away by the euphoria when it is eased. |
