Fifteen years ago, we opened the doors of the concert hall at the Ferguson Center for the Performing Arts. The spotlight illuminated the stage for the first time, and in that moment, the cultural landscape of Hampton Roads was transformed. Ferguson Center for the Arts with Langley Federal Credit Union

Holiday Happening, Christopher Newport's traditional annual concert, usually thrills standing-room-only audiences in the Ferguson Center for the Performing Arts. That's not possible this year, but the jingle bells won't be silent. WHRO TV15 will broadcast the entire hour-long production at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 20! The production features hundreds of Christopher Newport students performing with faculty members in several festive locations on campus.

If you miss the show that night, you'll be able to see it in its entirety on the
CNU YouTube channel.

Due to the most recent guidelines from the CDC and state public health authorities, all Ferguson Center performances through May 14 have been postponed. We are working to reschedule the shows affected, and will contact ticket holders as new dates are confirmed. In the meantime, patrons should keep their tickets.

Our ticket office remains open for phone sales by calling (757) 594-8752 Monday through Friday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Tickets may also be purchased online at fergusoncenter.org. As a courtesy, convenience fees will be waived through May 14.

Any forthcoming updates will also be posted on our website and social media channels. We thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate these unprecedented circumstances.

Greetings!

In 2005, Christopher Newport University''s Ferguson Center for the Arts was born right here in the heart of our community, forever changing the cultural landscape of Hampton Roads. At the onset of its 15^th anniversary year, the Center's advisory council wishes to extend sincere gratitude to you for helping make the Center one of the most respected and admired performing arts venues in the nation. Your patronage and support have made everything possible.

As you know, these are unprecedented times for the arts. The Diamonstein Concert Hall stage has remained dark since March. As the holidays approach and with performances paused, one can't help but think of how the Center has enhanced our lives, and what would be missed had it never existed. The theme of the 1946 classic holiday film It's a Wonderful Life comes to mind. What would life be like without something so vital and precious to a community?

No leading cultural center for community arts organizations. No home on the peninsula for the Virginia Symphony. No place to mentor and foster the next generation of arts advocates and administrators through student internships. No place for underserved children and families to be introduced to the joy and wonder of the performing arts through the Center's beloved Arts for All program. No place for students to take part in community masterclasses and workshops taught by the world's leading artists and entertainers. No place for more than 300 of our friends and neighbors to volunteer each season. No place to experience such a wide variety of world-class entertainment. The list goes on.

What is truly precious and would be missed the most is a community made closer and stronger through the transformative power of the performing arts. As we celebrate this important milestone for the Center and look back on 15 years and more than 700 incredible shows, it truly has been a wonderful life.

Please share a special Ferguson Center memory that has enhanced your wonderful life and support future programming by making a tax-deductible gift today. Although the stage may currently be dark, it's just an intermission. We can't wait to be with you once again for spectacular performances, and as Executive Director Bruce Bronstein likes to say, we've saved your seat.

It has only been a few weeks and we miss you, but we will be back! Our entire team is hard at work rescheduling events and planning incredible shows for next season - our 15^th anniversary.

Even though we are operating differently now, I want to keep bringing the best of entertainment to you. During these challenging days, performers of all types are creating incredible digital content that can be accessed online. There are thousands available, so I thought I would make it easy for you and offer a few that I think are particularly special - they are offered as links, below. Of particular note for the Ferguson family perhaps - especially as we plan for our 15^th season - is a special livestream Easter concert, presented by Andrea Bocelli who set the bar for world class performances as the headliner during our inaugural season in September 2005.
