Mentor-Apprentice Program is Accepting Applications

The First Peoples' Cultural Council Mentor-Apprentice Program (MAP) is a one-on-one language immersion program to help create fluent speakers of B.C. First Nations languages. A mentor, who is a fluent speaker, and an apprentice spend time doing everyday activities together using their language. FPCC provides training, funding and resources to assist MAP teams in their work.

Eligibility
This program is for B.C. First Nations individuals ages 16 or older. You do not need to be living in your community (on reserve) to be eligible to participate.

Timeline
The deadline for submissions is December 7, 2020. 
Programs will occur between April 2021 and March 2022.

The health and safety of everyone involved in FPCC programs, communities, and especially Elders, is of the utmost importance to us. While the Government of B.C. has relaxed some guidelines, we are very careful that our programs do not put anyone at risk.

The Indigenous Cultural Heritage Infrastructure Grant Webinar & Micro-Grant Extension!

The First Peoples’ Cultural Council is offering a 45 minute Webinar on Tuesday, October 27^th from 12:00 to 12:45pm on Zoom to share information and answer questions about the Indigenous Cultural Heritage Infrastructure Grant (ICHIG).

The moderator for this event is FPCC Heritage Program Manager Karen Aird with panelists Lyndsie Bourgon from FPCC, and Genevieve Casault, Manager, Heritage Programs and Services Integrated Resources, Heritage Branch of BC.

Language Technology Program is Accepting Applications!? 

The Language Technology Program is now open and accepting applications until April 5, 2021. This program provides up to $180,000 in funding, technology and training to communities to support language revitalization using technology. 

This program combines the FirstVoices Program and Digitization Grants Initiative to offer funding and training to First Nations communities, governments, bands and tribal councils, and Indigenous organizations in B.C.

Funding
Up to $80,000 is available for FirstVoices projects and up to $100,000 is available for digitization projects. Projects with smaller budgets are encouraged to apply. 

Timeline
The application deadline is April 5, 2021. Projects must be implemented between July 2021 and June 2022.

Hello,

The FPCC Language Revitalization Planning Program provides up to $100,000 in funding, resources and coaching to First Nations communities in B.C. The program supports long-term plans for Indigenous language revitalization. The deadline to apply is January 25, 2021.

Eligible applicants include First Nations communities, governments, bands and tribal councils in B.C., and other Indigenous organizations. Program funding is available to support the 34 First Nations languages of British Columbia.


Funding
Up to $100,000 is available plus resources and coaching.

The Indigenous Cultural Heritage Infrastructure Grant is Now Accepting Applications

Hello,

We wanted to let you know that the FPCC Indigenous Cultural Heritage Infrastructure Grant is now open. This grant supports Indigenous communities to safeguard, revitalize and celebrate their heritage. Examples of projects include the conservation of structures, cultural heritage sites, landscapes, trails and archives.

This grant is an extension of the Unique Heritage Infrastructure (UHI) grant, funded by the BC Heritage Branch.

Funding
This grant will deliver funding from $100,000 up to $400,000 for approved projects.

Eligibility
This funding supports B.C. First Nations bands, tribal councils, as well as Indigenous not-for-profit societies, and Indigenous-led museums and cultural spaces focusing on Indigenous cultural heritage.

Timeline
The application deadline is November 12, 2020. 
Projects must be implemented between January 2021 and March 2023.
