I’m dying!

Was it a pain, a change in my breathing pattern, slower movements?

This wasn’t something that I had to go to the doctor to figure out. It was obvious that I was dying from this.

As I reflect on my life and as I get older I continue to see and focus on the really important things in life.But I’ve also learned that reflecting and doing are two different things.

How will you finish your life? The time to figure life out and have no regrets is now! Not when it’s too late and we regret nothaving done ‘this or that’.

Here is the reality of it.

You are dying too!

Each day goes by you’re getting closer to that time. This applies to you, me, the new born baby and everyone else.

I have a few questions for you. Do you know how to truly live life like you are dying? Have you learned to focus on things in life that will really matter and do it consistently?

It’s not the rat race to get the newest car, the bigger, better house, the newest gadget, the jets, or the party life that many focus on.

I want to share with you how I live as if I’m dying.

If you know me personally or have been following me for any length of time you know I get up very, very early. You’ll often see on my social media stories on my posts before 4am or shortly thereafter.

Do I have insomnia? No, not at all. I do this for two reasons. The first is I unfortunately wasted so much of my life away being raised in a cult. Over 40 years to be exact.

I have a lot of catching up to do.

Second, I’m dying. That coupled with the over 40 years in the cult is why I get up early. It’s because I’m dying and I want to live life now.

I read, study, reflect, think, adjust my course if needed, love more, play more and be more! You are dying too!

If you could see into the future about a month or so before you are to die, what would you do differently?

What behaviors for goals would you change? Don’t wait till it’s too late because right now as you read this, yes, you are dying.

This isn’t to put you in a sad state of mind but to get you to slow down and stop and not only reflect but act on your reflections.

Here are somethings people might do differently if you remembered emotionally on a daily basis that they are dying.

We’d have so much more compassion for our fellow man.

We’d love more and deeper.

We live more in the moment.

We’d value much more of our time.

We’d listen to others while doing so in the present and without distraction.

We’d look over the faults of others as we’d want them to do for us.

We give more of our time, gifts and talents to serve our family and fellow man.

We’d be much slower to anger and quicker to praise.

I could go on and on. When I finish writing this I’d like you to please share some additional things that I didn’t.

When my eyes open about 4am each morning after a deep nights rest what get’s me up more than anything are twowords, ‘I’m dying!’

I have committed to living like this for the rest of my life and I think your life would have more meaning, happiness and fulfillmentif you joined me in this counter culture thinking.

You’ll find that when you live like your dying you figure out a way to increase your income.

How is that? Inevitably, if you live like you’re dying you’ll want to spend more quality time with you loved ones. If you’re not doing that nowthen you’ll reposition you life, income or business so that you can afford to spend more time.

But if you don’t live like you are dying then you won’t focus on this as much. Oh, you’ll reflect on it, perhaps regret not being able to do more and then leave it at that.

But when you’re live life like you’re dying you’ll do thing differently.

I recently was asked to speak overseas and the company wanted to know my fee. The fee was large, very large. Why?

I have no desire to fly overseas by myself. I would take some of the increased fee and bring a loved ones with me to enjoy the experience. I’d rather that than go by myself.

Now there may be some exceptions from time to time but I believe you understand where I’m going.

To live like your dying and be able to do that now, I can assure you it will cost you.

It will cost you time, selfish pleasures, money and more.

This is just some of the things you’ll need to do if you want to live life without regret and live now like you’re dying.

It's mind boggling how something like this has literally affected everyone on this planet.

With many people staying home or making huge adjustments in there lives it's made us aware of some areas that we might need to stop and rethink where we're heading and what are we doing with our lives.

In January of 2019 I made some massive moves in my life. Ultimately it was a change in my entire value system. Essentially what I place in a hierarchy of importance.

With a goal of having a family I wanted to create my life around my future family not my family around my life.

I made major changes which included the likes of entirely changing my companies business model.

Such as traveling for speaking engagements less and only for the ones that I really wanted to do. This would enable me to be home even more.

Another shift I made was to heavily incorporate my Beyond First Class mastermind. This is where I take my clients on my jet to Sandals Resorts in the Bahamas for an incredible day of luxury learning.

This allows me to be back home the same day and to fall asleep with my loved ones and not have to fall asleep in another hotel and in another bed.

I just wanted to make a shift that would bring a better quality of life to me and my family.

Now back to the virus. In times like these you so often hear people talk about getting life back to the basics.

Things like having meals together as a family, spending more time with your loved ones and I'm sure you could add to this list.

To not be so rushed. Take time to read a book. Time to cook a meal for or with the family. Yes, these are the good things that can come out of a bad situation.

Often it's hard for us to come to this realization in shifting our value systems till we're forced to do so. Such as we are experiencing presently.

If this realization has happened to you there is something very important you must be aware of.

That would be to try to live in this state of appreciation and not get back into the mental rat race. Will you be able to do it?

I remember years ago before 9/11 the constant beeping of the taxi horns and how impatient people were when I would visit New York.

Two weeks after 9/11 I was back in New York to film a TV show. You could still smell the concrete in the air from the falling building but what you didn't hear were all the horns of the impatient people. That tragedy changed the city's value system.

For some it lasted well after 9/11. For others for only a short time.

I sit here at home reflecting on how this virus has change the course of life as we know it. I'm glad I decided over a year ago to make this major shift in my life.

I don't have thoughts of not having enough time to spend with friends and family because I made the decision over a year ago to make these changes.

I've always had an emergency fund so this way my team can be paid until I get speaking engagements and we start traveling again.

I'm glad I didn't figure this out during this crisis. If anything, the next 'Corona Fund' as I call it now, will be much larger, that's for sure!

Use today's situation to your advantage. Learn from it and more importantly allow it to positively change your value system for LIFE!
