Supporting Gut Health in the Season of Eating
Practitioner Favorites from Gaia Herbs
Recent research confirms what many suspected; the gut plays an important role in immune health. A healthy digestive system supports the inflammatory response. In return, a strong inflammatory response allows the immune system to run efficiently and help to stave off infection and disease.**
in addition to diet, exercise, and quality sleep, herbal supplements are an easy way to support your gut health.* Whether relief is needed from overindulging in favorite foods or to keep the microbiome in good shape, herbal products, such as Microbiome Cleanse, GI Feel Good, and Microbiome Food, can help maintain a healthy digestive system.*

Herb of the Month - Marshmallow
|
Marshmallow is native to Europe and parts of Asia and is part of the Malvaceae family. The garden varieties are called HollyHocks. The whole plant contains a tacky, slimy substance known as mucilage, with the root of 2-3 year old plants containing the highest percentage. The root is often dried, sliced into discs, sold and then powdered to support healthy gastrointestinal function where irritation may be present. It has traditionally been used to support all mucosal membranes especially in the bronchioles, mouth, and intestines.* Read more...

News from the Gaia Herbs Organic Farm
This season, Gaia grew 24 different crops with a harvest yield of 35,000 kilograms! Additionally, our ever popular organic vegetable program provided employees and local food banks with well over 21,000 pounds of garden fresh produce and herbs.
As we continue to prepare our farm for the offseason, we focus on planting cover crops. These plants are used to prevent soil erosion, protect water quality, and suppress weeds during winter. We use a variety of cover crops on our farm such as Oats, Rye, Red Clover, and Vetch, all of which help to enrich the soil for improved yields in the coming growing season.
