Hundreds of thousands of artists from all of the world sell their artwork on GigPosters.com.
With so many creative individuals all in one place, there are an incredible number of interesting stories unfolding each day throughout our online community and in the real-world lives of our artists!
Here are some highlights from May and June...
A Saloon Painting Finds an Audience
Every once in a while, a piece of artwork comes of our nowhere... strikes a chord with a dedicated fan base... and generates explosive sales growth over the course of just a few days. That''s exactly what happened to Tim Joyner''s "Western Saloon" in late March:
Tim''s painting had been on GigPosters.com since October 2017 and had already been purchased an impressive 168 times as of March 2020.
On March 22nd, however, a Twitter user named Michael Crews sent sales into the stratosphere with this tweet. Michael''s tweet started a snowball of social media activity (950+ retweets and counting) in which commentors tried to identify all of the celebrities in the painting. Within a matter of days, Tim had sold an additional 650 prints!
Congratulations to Tim on all of his success!

Citizens Protest Across America
The death of George Floyd in May 25th set off a wave of protests across American cities. On June 3rd, photogapher Andrew Wallner captured a series of aerial photos of a protest on Burnside Bridge in downtown Portland, Oregon. Andrew uploaded the photos to Gig Posters and announced that he would be donating all of the profits from the sale of his protest photos to Don''t Shoot PDX.
The reaction to Andrew''s photos was immediate and powerful. Andrew sold thousands of prints in a matter of days and will be using the proceeds to support the local BLM organization.

Artist-Designed Face Masks Strike a Chord and Experience Major Production Delays
In early April, we launched a new line of artist-designed face masks just days after the CDC recommended that all U.S. citizens begin wearing masks when outside their homes. Suddenly, people all over the U.S. and the world needed / wanted to wear face masks on a daily basis, and the resulting strain on our production supply was immediate, dramatic, and very difficult to recover from.
As soon as we unveiled our new line of face masks, we immediately started receiving thousands of orders per day. Each mask is custom-printed and hand-sewn at a production facility in North Carolina. Our production partner began hiring hundreds of temporary textile workers as fast as possible to try to keep up with demand, but the order volume was simply too overwhelming.
Too many orders + too few textile works + shipping delays from UPS and FedEx = the perfect storm. Many face mask orders were delayed by 30+ days and, in some cases, even longer which resulted in a customer service nightmare for the Gig Posters staff and our artists.
Fortunately, we''ve finally managed to catch up, and as of today, we''ve cleared out our entire backlog of face mask orders, and all new face mask orders are now shipping within 5 - 10 business days.

Let''s hope that the demand for this product goes to zero as quickly as possible for the good of everyone on the planet.
