The annual event designed by and for the SDG Action Community to inspire action for the Sustainable Development Goals is back! The 2020 edition of the SDG Global Festival of Action will be a space to meet the key SDG change-makers, activists and leaders, discover the most innovative ways to inspire action for the SDGs and experience the transformation taking place for people and the planet.

Over 2,000 SDG changemakers from around the world including artists and creatives, social innovators, philanthropists, international institutions & NGOs, local authorities and national governments, academia and leading businesses will come together with the shared goal of finding new ways to inspire action for the SDGs. 

Applications are now OPEN. Apply to host a session, innovation or experience until 10th January 2020. Or apply now to secure your place to join as a participant.

The 4th edition of the SDG Global Festival of Action will be a milestone to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals as 2020 is the kick start of the Decade of Action. Every Festival feature will be designed for and by the SDG Community to meet and connect, to share, experience and learn from the latest thinking, ideas, approaches and practices to be better equipped to advance the Goals together.

The global health crisis has turned our lives upside down and is a sober reminder of the need for solidarity, creativity and collective action for the Sustainable Development Goals. The Goals provide the much-needed road map for a just and sustainable recovery from the crisis with the promise of more equal and inclusive societies that are stronger and more resilient. That means your work is more important than ever to #TurnItAround in the right direction for people and planet! 

Through the UN SDG Action Awards we are calling for stories of incredible projects that should be recognized, replicated and scaled up. We are seeking the most inspiring and impactful initiatives that mobilize, connect and inspire SDG Action around the world.

These initiatives will be beacons of hope to governments and people everywhere that the transformative change outlined in the 2030 agenda is possible.

A few tips for completing your application:

• It is important to clearly demonstrate the impact of your initiative. Many applications tell a powerful story of the drivers and inspiration behind the project and/or share innovative solutions to SDG challenges.
• However, the most successful applications also give quantifiable or verifiable evidence of the impact.
• The most compelling applications will share videos, photos, news articles, etc.

High-Level Political Forum

How much has COVID-19 affected progress on the Sustainable Development Goals?  

The High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), 7 July - 16 July, is debating just that and reflecting on how the international community can respond to the pandemic in a way that will put us back on track to achieve the SDGs and accelerate progress during the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development. 

HLPF is the core UN platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda. This year's theme is 'Accelerated action and transformative pathways: realizing the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development'. Witness some of the important decisions being taken to build back better and be a part of history.  

50 inspiring Solidarity in Action stories from around the world 

The COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed an unprecedented crisis for the world. Around the world people are suffering from sickness, economic strain, and access to food, sanitation and shelter-upending lives indiscriminately.  Yet in the midst of this global health crisis, acts of kindness and solidarity are burgeoning, helping neighborhoods, communities, and people everywhere to adapt to the new norm.

The UN SDG Action Campaign launched a call for stories of solidarity in action, to highlight the generous and impactful work that individuals and organizations have been taking to support communities as we navigate a pandemic and look toward recovery. Nominations poured in from individuals and organizations around the world sharing heartwarming acts of humanity and harmony.   

From individual fundraisers to virtual platforms meeting the unique needs of this time to companies producing and donating essential items to frontline workers, these 50 stories of solidarity in action inspire resilience and hope in a time when we need it most.
