2019 Lake Stocking Program: Year in Review 

In 2019, our hatcheries raised 4.97 million trout, char, and kokanee – from juvenile fry to catchable-sized fish – and released them into 622 lakes around our province. Learn more about the stocking summaries for each region on our blog, or click on the links below:

Winter has arrived in the interior regions of our province, and many lakes have frozen over. Like any other form of angling, fishing through the ice can be as simple or as sophisticated as you want it to be. Regardless of how serious you are, ice-fishing is a fun, family activity that goes well with campfires, hot chocolate, and hot dogs – the perfect accompaniments to exciting fish-catching action. Applications for year two of the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC’s Native Trout Stewardship Initiative grant are due by Tuesday, December 31, 2019. Submit your proposals for projects that aim to help protect, conserve, and recover native trout species in British Columbia.
