Matching gift deadline extended to November 20

During a season unlike any other, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers visited Governors Island. Since then, hundreds of you have donated to the Governors Island Giving Drive, to help us close a critical gap in funding needed to care for the Island. Thank you! We've made great progress, but we still have a long way to go.

RESERVE FERRY TICKETS ONLINE

Ticket reservations are required to visit Governors Island this year. Make sure to read our health and safety protocols before arriving for your ferry. Governors Island ferries are always free for residents of NYCHA housing, IDNYC holders, Governors Island Members, current and former military servicemembers, kids 12 and under, and seniors 65 and up. Reserve tickets at govisland.org ?

PUMPKIN POINT: SATURDAY 10/24 - SUNDAY 11/1

Pumpkin Point returns next weekend! The annual pumpkin patch will be back this year in a socially distanced format with thousands of pumpkins and seasonal decorations arranged across Nolan Park and plenty of room to spread out. Visitors are encouraged to take home one pumpkin each, free of charge. Pumpkin Point will be open daily beginning next Saturday through the end of our 2020 season, Sunday 11/1. Stop by to grab a pumpkin and savor the season in an idyllic setting ?

Open House New York Weekend includes tons of virtual programs this Saturday & Sunday

OPEN HOUSE NY WEEKEND: SAT 10/17 & SUN 10/18

Governors Island joins Open House NY Weekend with virtual tours on Urban Archive. Use their website or app to take a self-guided tour of the Island, or go for a virtual walk from home and learn about the Island''s history through incredible archival photographs. LMCC is also hosting Virtual Studio Visits with their Workspace residency artists, each day at noon. Learn more about touring GI with Urban Archive and everything you can do this OHNY weekend ?

Governors Island gave joy to hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers this year. Now is your opportunity to give back.

Every year, the Friends of Governors Island raises nearly 75% of the funding needed to care for the Island's 120 acres of open space. In a normal year, the majority of this funding comes to us through events. While we're unable to hold our annual gala this year, we still need to raise funds in order to provide critical care for Governors Island's open spaces. The deadline to complete the 2020 Census is now 6AM tomorrow morning online or tonight by phone. Getting counted is a critical step you can take to help New York City meet the unprecedented economic challenges of COVID-19.

Even if you have left the city, you still need to fill out the census with your New York City address at www.my2020census.gov or by calling 844-330-2020. You do not need your Census ID to complete the Census online.

Soak up the summertime on Governors Island. From biking and hiking to grilling and chilling, you can find all the best parts of summer here on our shore. Before you visit, get familiar with our health and safety guidelines, including:

Visitors must reserve tickets in advance online, selecting ferry times both to and from the Island. Show up 15-30 minutes before your departure time.
Face coverings are required while boarding and riding our ferries and while on the Island.
Hand washing and sanitizing stations can be found throughout the Island, and increased cleaning protocols are in place.
Remember to stay 6 feet apart!
