To Our Healthy Spot Customers - 

This year we will be closing our stores early by 6pm in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.  Starting next year, we will close all our stores and include Juneteenth as a recognized company holiday.  We believe in the importance of ongoing attention to racial equality and want to provide the opportunity to learn, participate in community action and reflect on how to make change. The observance of Juneteenth annually will allow us to achieve this beyond the focus of this year alone.   

Juneteenth is also a celebration of education and self-improvement, and we are proud to share our support for Black Girls CODE. This nonprofit is dedicated to building confidence, fostering friendships and ultimately equipping young girls in underrepresented communities with advanced tech skills. We invite you to join us in making a donation to Black Girls CODE.

While your pet may be thrilled that you are spending more time with them instead of doing other social activities, they are also likely going a little stir crazy. We're sharing tips to keep your pet busy while social distancing and answering other frequently asked questions about pets and coronavirus.

To Our Healthy Spot Family - 

In light of the recent Safer At Home announcement in Los Angeles, we wanted to clarify that pet stores still remain an essential business for the community and our doors will remain open.  We continue to implement our more rigorous cleaning policy in our stores to keep all of our staff and customers safe. Our stores continue to be well-stocked, so there is no need to purchase more pet food than you usually do. Beginning Friday, March 20, all of our stores will be closing at 7pm daily. We will also be temporarily closing our Century City location. Please see the current hours of your local spot and services curbside drop off and pick up information below:

In addition, to keep our team and community safe, we are now offering curbside drop off and pick up for our grooming and daycare clients.

Grooming and Daycare Drop Off: When you arrive at the store, please call in to let us know. A team member can greet you from your vehicle or at the door. 

Grooming Pick Up: Per our normal protocol, you will receive a call 20 minutes before your dog is ready for pick up. Upon arrival, please call our salon to let us know you are there.  

Daycare Pick Up: Call us 15 minutes before you arrive so that we can prepare your pup, and then again upon your arrival at the store. 

Please allow us approximately an extra 10 -15 minutes to ensure that we can collect and process payment, and to ensure that your dog is safely brought back to you!

We are very excited to announce that all of our Grooming Salons, with the exception of Century City, have now reopened! We appreciate your patience when scheduling an appointment, as we are expecting an influx of requests over the next few weeks. 

We have implemented even higher standards of care and will continue to adhere to all social distancing protocols to keep our community safe, including but not limited to:

- Social distancing measures such as curbside drop off and pick up
- 6-foot markers in our stores 
- Temperature checks for all team members prior to their shift starting
- Masks and glove requirement for team members
- EPA approved cleaning agents
- Minimum 3 times per day cleaning for all high touch surfaces and common areas

Please note that grooming is by appointment only and we are currently only accepting full-service grooms. We are also requiring curbside drop off and pick up to limit the number of people in our stores. When you arrive at the store for drop off, please call to let a team member know you are there. 15 minutes before your pet is ready for pick up, a grooming team member will call you. When you arrive to pick up your pup, please call to inform the grooming team.

Hello Healthy Spot Family - 

As our government shares recommendations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, keeping our community informed about changes in our business is a top priority for us, and we now need to make some adjustments to reflect this new landscape. We are doing everything we can to remain open and serve our communities so that your pets can have the food and essentials they need during this time. In addition, we are putting emergency benefits in place for our staff to help them through this challenging time. We will be sharing email updates with our community on a regular basis as things continue to develop. In addition to elevating our current standards of store safety we noted in our prior email, we are making the following changes, effective immediately:
 

• We will be canceling all of our in-store events, including our Birthday Pawties and Rescue Spot Adoptions, through the end of May. We believe it is important to adhere to the CDC's recommendations on large gatherings.
• We are limiting our retail, grooming and daycare hours in select locations. See below for the list of locations impacted. If your store is not listed, then there are no changes to the normal operating hours. We are updating our locations page on our website as quickly as possible with these changes, but would recommend calling your store if you have any urgent needs. 

We will be updating our Spot's Corner article daily as new changes occur, so please continue to visit our blog for the most up-to-date information. 

We also kindly ask that if you or anyone in your family is displaying flu-like symptoms to avoid visiting our stores so that we can keep our community safe. We recommend shopping on Instacart or at healthyspot.com to have your products shipped straight to your door. Note that due to an unexpected increase in online orders, shipments may be delayed or partially fulfilled as our warehouse team quickly works to replenish our inventory. We do not foresee any long-term product shortages, so you do not need to stock up more than you usually do.

We have updated the store hours for our Beverly Grove, Costa Mesa, Manhattan Beach, Pasadena and West LA locations and we have made the decision to close our Studio City Daycare. To our Healthy Spot Family,

Keeping our community safe and comfortable in our stores has been and always will be a top priority for us. As news about the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop, we wanted to take a moment to share some of the actions Healthy Spot is taking to help protect you and our team members.

We've always prided ourselves on maintaining a clean and sanitized environment in our stores, but we are continuing to increase our efforts during this time. We are staying in close communication with our health care service provider and the World Health Organization to ensure we are up to date on the latest recommendations and measures, and as a result, are taking the following steps:

• We are thoroughly cleaning all surfaces with anti-bacterial products multiple times a day in our stores and at our warehouse.
• Hand sanitizer, gloves and anti-bacterial wipes are being utilized by employees when necessary.
• Regular and thorough hand washing by all team members will be encouraged. 
• We are advising employees in our stores and warehouse to stay home if they feel ill and to consult with their healthcare providers.
• Our Grooming Salons and Small Dog Daycares are sanitized before, after and during each work day to ensure a clean environment for your pups.
• While there is no evidence that dogs can transmit COVID-19, we will have dog grooming wipes available so your dog can leave our stores as clean as they came.

Based on these actions, plus understanding the importance of supporting our community's ongoing need for healthy pet food and services, we will remain open for business with regular business hours.

One of our core values is supporting our community so as a precautionary measure, we will be canceling our in-store events until further notice with the exception of our Spring Photo Shoot in Mission Bay. These photo sessions are private, contained in our daycare room and do not require a group to gather. 

Below are some steps you can take to continue to protect yourself:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water.
• Disinfect your hands after being in a public space.
• Avoid touching other people or their pets when possible.
• Stay home if you are sick.

We understand that this virus is still a concern for many, but hope that this email serves as a reassurance to our community. Should you choose not to visit your local spot, you can find many of your favorite brands at Healthyspot.com or on Instacart to be delivered straight to your door. 

Supporting healthy pet lifestyles is our mission, and ensuring our community has a safe environment is our priority. We will continue to keep you updated as we receive recommendations and we share our sympathies with those affected.
