WINE FACE TASTING This Weekend: These gems
Every Saturday & Sunday in both Brentwood and on Fairfax you can taste these wines for $18 per person 2pm-4pm!

Spooky / Scary LIFE IS SO HAIRY! Ok, not exactly true, SO many things to be grateful for. The weather has turned, sweaters can officially come out to play, long sleeves all day, it''s a welcome marker of change even if its just the temperature. The other night I made the most epic fall soup of all time. Vinny came up with this recipe ages and ages ago to celebrate a fall apple for a company. But I latched on to this one and haven''t let go!!! Here is a broad strokes of how to make it because I can''t find the exact recipe and I always do it from memory.
Equal parts, cubed up ~ 1 cup each of
- butternut squash
-tart apple
-rutabaga
-sweet potato
-yellow onion
Add a nice amount of butter to a pot, melt it and cook the cubed dopeness for 10 minutes. Add chicken stock ~ 1 quart
Simmer until everything is soft!
Take the solids and put into the vitamix and puree. Add little bits of the liquid stock at a time until everything is combined and creamy dreamy.
Put the velvety goodness into the pot again, whisk the soup season with: salt, pepper, cayenne, add a little bit of cream and some maple syrup to taste! VOILA  !

Hi!!! It''s the middle of July and the Covid almost has me loosing my mind! But then I find it again and I dig deep about everything that I am grateful for. I''m SO grateful to be sending this newsletter out and that we are in business...shits deep. It''s tomato and eggplant season right now-- a fruit and berry that can come together to make one of the most iconic dishes: THE EGGPLANT PARM. We have a super dope one on at Jon & Vinny''s, but you can also throw down on your own freestyle. My friends Tony & Claudia sent me a pic of their freestyle eggplant parm last night with arrabiata sauce and it looked FUEGO! What''s up fam! The sunshine in my face, wearing an addidas windbreaker, sitting in the back booth of Jon & Vinny''s, listening to Don Cherry''s Home Boy, Sister Out, thinking about all kinds of shit! But to quiet the mind and meditate on this newsletter for a beat is what wine pimpin is all about. hahahaha! Its the time for corn, fried fish, green bean salad, sliced tomatoes and relunctantly washing the salty day from your skin right before dusk. So that you can then sit, hopefully outside, with your wet hair dripping on your shoulders, something crispy and clean on your body and the stillness of transition in your eyes. Glass of wine in hand, maybe it''s icy cold, maybe its on that rose tip, maybe it a chilled red. ????Project 43''s Annisa Dickson, a 26 year old self taught artist and mother of a two-year old, created the artwork for the DRx x Jon & Vinny''s tee and fleece release. ???
???@Ragdiggaz jumped in to help source and screen print the Upcycled vintage T Shirts and sweatshirts. ???

I am REALLY into a lot of different wines right now. But week to week we put up our current obsessions...and this three pack of awesome white wine are delicious, unexpected and incredible focused. They are a magical fantasy journey to another country, space, time with thought, care and energy. 

 

 

For me, this weekend is all about loading up on my YIN. Not sure what Yin is? Well, buckle up, let''s take a ride. It''s the Yin as in the Yin and Yang-- the Chinese philosophy of dualism aka contrary or opposite forces are actually oftentimes complimentary. ANYWAY- This isn''t a goddamn ying and yang lecture y''all, its a wine newsletter!!! Soooo actually back to Ying and Yang (LOL): Women are amazing, and we travel through space and time each month on a Yin/ Yang journey and I am in Yin''s time zone right now, which is dope AF, and which means I need to eat all kinds of shellfish and seaweeds and kale, so basically I am a smitten kitten. Even though, honestly, I am not a cat person. Bottom line: I am going to REV up my JING! Jing is the Chinese word for ESSENCE. We are born with our Jing. It''s Jing-thirty this weekend. I am sure from this brief paragraph you might have discerned that I am into acupuncture. And you know what? GUILTY as charged! I love it. How does this all relate? Well, there''s definitely some wines that pair well with my Yin / Jing fest and so I highlighted a few below. Just free flowing here Y''all. And lets build up our Essence. I love that idea.
