Harnessing the 80 Percent: Complete the EMR with Connected Healthcare

The global adoption of electronic medical record (EMR) systems is a great first step to improving health information access through digitisation, but far too many healthcare providers believe these systems are all that''s necessary to establish a comprehensive digital patient record. The fact is, as much as 80 percent of the information that exists on a patient is unstructured (e.g. clinical documents, medical images) and lives outside the EMR in a number of siloed systems and repositories.

Creating a true single source of patient information means capturing and consolidating this unstructured information and linking it to the EMR. A substantial business opportunity exists for solution providers that can integrate disparate information for healthcare organizations.

Join Christine Lugg, Healthcare Industry Manager, APAC, Hyland for a webinar next Tuesday, July 28 at 4pm SGT with Dr. Jenny Shao, Founder and CEO of TDH Solution. Singapore healthcare cluster National University Health System (NUHS) is the first in Singapore to embrace a Value Driven Outcomes (VDO) that measures results based on quality of care and the costs required to achieve it.

Within NUHS includes Singapore's first HIMSS Analytics EMRAM Stage 7, and soon to be revalidated Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH). This session will focus on understanding NTFGH's digital journey from a CMIO perspective and also the value and benefits in digitalising.

There will also be insights into cybersecurity from technology experts Check Point, an American-Israeli multinational provider of software and combined hardware and software products for IT security. Check Point will look at the need for fortifying cybersecurity technology in light of the recent hospital attacks.

The Adoption of Cloud Technology and How Its Transforming the Healthcare Industry

Cloud services provide tremendous benefits to the healthcare industry that enable cost reductions, improve patient experience and provide access to high powered analytics. However, transitioning healthcare operations to cloud services can be a major IT initiative and it raises concerns such as cybersecurity, compliance and availability.

This might explain why fewer health systems are adopting cloud technology. Eight in ten respondents expect to store a majority of data in brick-and-mortar datacenters or a hybrid/private cloud in the next three years. Just 10% anticipate moving storage to a public cloud¹.

Kids 2.0: ‘Involving children has been absolutely central to our approach over the last five years’

At this session of the HIMSS & Health 2.0 Digital European Event, experts discussed creating technology for children,  gamification and engagement design.

Dom Raban, co-founder and CEO Xploro, spoke about his experience of developing Xploro, a clinically validated digital therapy that uses augmented reality, artificial intelligence and games to deliver health information to young patients in a way which makes them feel empowered, engaged and informed whilst having fun.
