Hello,
First and foremost a massive thank you to those of you who have contributed to our Crowdfunder campaign already, we are truly grateful for your donation. While we have surpassed our initial target of ?5,000, following an unforeseen challenge, we still need your help!
Help us reach our stretch target of ?10,000, essential for repairing and maintaining our research vessel, Silurian!
As soon as you raised ?5,000 we headed straight out on the water to monitor whales, dolphins and porpoises. However, after a successful day sailing (where 50 nautical miles was covered) we experienced mechanical issues, forcing us to return to Tobermory and send away Silurian's alternator for urgent repair. These things take time, but we are hopeful she will be back out on the water very soon. However, this challenge has thrown up an unexpected cost and in a year where money is already tight.
Donate to the campaign today to ensure Silurian is 'ship-shape' for marine research
With one week to go on our Crowdfunding campaign, we are appealing to you to please donate. Together we have raised over a whopping ?7,500! With less than ?2,000 left to raise, can you help us smash our target? No matter the size of your donation, we appreciate all the help!
When you donate, there are incredible prizes to be won in our exclusive raffle, including an overnight trip on board Silurian in 2021, so make sure to check out the rewards section.
Alongside the raffle, we have been generously gifted a stunning oil painting - the North Shore of Iona, by Ross Ryan. This beautiful piece (pictured below) is not part of the raffle, but will be rewarded separately to the first person to donate ?1,500 to help us protect whales and dolphins. Ross'' work can be found in collections worldwide, most recently featuring in the Scottish Gallery of Contemporary Art - usually selling for more than ?1,500 so a lovely investment!
