G'day everyone,
It amazes me that we're nearly in October and another AGM is coming around, but this year has been unlike no other, so nothing surprises me anymore.
I hope you're all finding your way back to some semblance of normality - other than our Victorian mates of course. We really feel for you guys, and you need to give us a shout if there is anything we can do to help.
The Board and the Team have been flat-out; working on as many politicians as we can prior to the federal budget being handed down, reworking the Indies Awards, developing our new brand assets for members and applying for as many grants as we're eligible for. Basically, making right pests of ourselves.
If you missed our
pre-budget submission, it can be found
here. There's still time to get in touch with your local Federal MP. The more advocates we have the better.
Now for a couple of important updates.
We had an AMAZING response to the
Indies Awards with
699 beers entered, mostly in the last week, so thanks for responding to our call outs and being team players. Our crew has come up with a fantastic plan to run the awards ceremony from a professional studio and it will be supported by live parties in states able to have gatherings. We're working on a date in November, but need a couple of other plans to fall in to place before we confirm.
The Board has focussed on evolving the Awards over the last couple of years to ensure your feedback is taken into account, our process is credible and delivers results you can be proud of. This year has slightly messed with our plans, and we can't do any of the logistics or judging in Melbourne so The Team, with the support of the Indies, Quality and Technical Project Groups, is managing the logistics of organising hubs across the country, as well as getting our best judges involved.
Before we make it to the Indies, our
Annual General Meeting is the 10
th of November and we need full brewery members to either nominate those you think would be great for the role, or to self-nominate.
We will have two vacant Board Director roles for you to vote on.
I'd encourage you to have a chat to one of the existing
Board Directors, familiarise yourself with our
Strategic Plan, make sure you can commit the time to attend monthly Board meetings and be involved in Project Groups, along with the range of other activities that we do. There is a huge amount happening.
Now that our
Strategy is in place it's a great time be a part of our evolution, as we work hard to develop new ways of supporting the industry. If you have a history of participation, care about our policy direction, goals, activities, and believe that you can make a contribution then think about nominating for the Board. Forms can be found
here.
Closes on the 6th of October.
In the meantime, if there is anything else on your mind, feel free to drop me a line.
Cheers
Pete
