What an AMAZING Wear it Purple Day! Last Friday was so filled with pride, purple and support for LGBTQIA+ young people - thank you to everyone who got involved, hosted an event, attended an event, used our Zoom backgrounds, or just posted on social media.

All over Australia, in-person and digitally, at work, at school, out in the community or at home, we truly LOVED seeing all of your purple outfits and events. Our hearts are so full!

And you know what? All those visible, joyous purple celebrations make a vital difference in the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth, letting them know they''re loved and supported.

November 13 to 19 is Trans Awareness Week - a chance for everyone to stand up and be a trans ally, celebrate the trans and gender diverse community, and spread all-important awareness and education.

It can feel daunting to get involved if you''re not confident in your knowledge, or if you don''t know exactly how to be a trans ally.

But you know what? That''s exactly why education is such pivotal part of Trans Awareness Week! We have all the education events, digital resources, shareable content and guides you need.

And here''s the best bit: you have a whole week up your sleeve!

That''s plenty of time to have a fun time connecting as a team or cohort AND to get stuck into some solid education - in-person, or virtually.

When COVID-19 hit, we completely had to re-imaginedyouth support for a digital world.

We did this by asking 244 young Australians what they wanted to see from us in order to feel connected and supported. Since then we''ve delivered digital events to over 2,500 LGBTQIA+ young people all over the country.

Taking time to reflect on the past 12 months has been particularly important for us all this year. Through the challenges that 2020 has brought, I''ve been moved by the resilience of our young people, community, and the team at Minus18

In the face of uncertainty, we''ve worked together with determination to ensure LGBTQIA+ youth always have a place to belong. Some highlights from this year:

5,818 youth attended life-affirming events from all over Australia (2,256 attended digitally).
5,962 people attended a Minus18 inclusion workshop or training session
2,071 organsations around Australia held an activity with us for IDAHOBIT, Wear it Purple Day or Trans Awareness Week, with 298,133 people getting involved.
We launched a brand new digital support platform for LGBTQIA+ youth, their families, and those who work with them. This was accessed by over 765,000 people this year.

All up, that''s over 1 million people across Australia impacted by Minus18. Woah!

Most importantly though, as we adapt our programs into digital environments, we''re ensuring that our high quality of support is maintained.

96% of young people felt more positive about their sense of self and identity after attending Minus18 events.
98% of digital event attendees reported feeling less isolated afterwards.

We''re only able to do this work because of people like you. Your participation, donations and advocacy keep our work alive. But this year in particular, it''s your love and messages of support that''s kept us fighting.

We''ve created a free, downloadable guide to empower community groups, schools, youth workers and LGBTQIA+ organisations, filled with our learnings and research during COVID-19.

When COVID-19 hit, we completely had to re-imaginedyouth support for a digital world.

We did this by asking 244 young Australians what they wanted to see from us in order to feel connected and supported. Since then we''ve delivered digital events to over 2,500 LGBTQIA+ young people all over the country.

It''s a strange, isolating time - so we''re planning a Youth Pride Party extravaganza on the 28th to keep our young people connected. And of course, our articles, videos and youth Facebook group are always here to help.

Bushfires, pandemics, #BlackLivesMatter - it''s been one heck of a year so far.

Yet, despite a truly unprecedented, rollercoaster first half of the year, Minus18 has been able to continue to support LGBTQIA+ youth around Australia.

Thanks to you, our donors and supporters. ??

Individual experiences of being LGBTQIA+ vary wildly - and it only takes a quick look at downright awful comments (often directed at young people) on social media to see how far we still have to go, and how vital it is to let all queer youth know they''re loved and supported.

Thanks to generous donations and fundraisers from around the community, we were able to continue to do just that, despite the far-reaching effects of COVID-19.

We were able to create online resources to support youth while in isolation, and release video resources for parents of LGBTQIA+ young people. We reimagined our professional training to be delivered completely online, and had over 900 events register to celebrate IDAHOBIT.

And we were able to host 11 digital events to keep our queer youth connected, and supported, no matter their location.

Now? Now we''re focusing our gaze on supporting the Black and Indigenous youth, and people of colour in our LGBTQIA+ community.

100% of donations received during June will go straight to projects created by, featuring and amplifying LGBTQIA+ BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of colour) young people.

We can''t wait to reveal what these projects will look like, but the suspense is torture!
