Dear Christopher
Just reminding you all of the Lighting for Healthcare Webinar which is being presented tonight by Ian Johnson from Eagle Lighting.
Our hosts will be the VIC/TAS Chapter and is due to begin at 6pm Victorian time.
Ian Johnson will be joined by Dr Jason Forte and Associate Professor Olivia Carter from Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences, University of Melbourne to discuss the latest research pertaining to the impact of light for clinical care patients.
Jason is a vision scientist specialising in the neural pathways of colour vision and the role of colour vision in human behaviour. His research includes both human and non-human studies on the transformation of light by neurones in the brain and how colour information in the brain shapes our perception of the world around us.
Olivia is an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences. She completed a PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Queensland Vision Touch and Hearing Research Centre, followed by a post-doctoral research fellowship in the Vision Science Lab at Harvard University. She currently heads the Perception and Pharmacology lab where her research interests focus on understanding the factors that determine the contents of an individual’s conscious experience and the impact of altered perceptual function in psychiatric populations.
The discussion will focus on how light influences human biology and wellness and review evidence-based research and delve into the area of how we need to adapt our lighting practice in the future based on best outcomes, not only for the patients for whom we provide care but also for ourselves in our day to day lives.
