"Weighing in at just 230g(8.11oz) and measuring 6.9cm(2.72in) in length, the Samyang AF 75mm F1.8 FE is a very small and light lens given its focal length. Compared to its most direct rival lens, the new Samyang lens is 141g(4.97oz) lighter and 1.3cm(0.51in) shorter in length."

"The 75mm focal length is actually very easy to get along with. It works well for portraits as well as for a wide variety of short telephoto applications. Whether the photographer sees this as an unusually long standard lens or as a slightly shorter portrait lens, the 75mm length proves in use to be very equitable. We can approach our portrait subjects quite closely, but not so close as to cause distortion of the features."

"Thanks to a new Stepping Motor(STM), AF is very silent, so it''s very good for video. You will not hear too much noises while the focus is on. AF is very accurate. I''ve tried some testing with this lens, walking towards the camera for both photo and video, the result was very good so I think focus is really good. Especially remember it''s not a native lens and it does such a good job!"

"The custom switch has two modes labelled 'Mode 1' and 'Mode 2'. If the switch is set to Mode 1 then as you'd expect you can alter focus using the focus ring (if the camera is set to MF or DMF). However, if the switch is set to Mode 2 then you can adjust the aperture using the focus ring instead of the dial on the camera body. From what I''m lead to believe, this function of this switch will be able to be changed via firmware updates using Samyang''s Lens Station. I could see that this would be welcomed by videographers especially as this method of changing the aperture is a lot smoother than turning the dial on the camera."
