A Happy New Year to everyone in the ISBE network. We hope that you had a restful break.
If you haven''t yet attended an online webinar as part of the Virtually ISBE series, we have three exciting opportunities coming up in February.
Our busy Early Career Researcher Forum SIG will be hosting a special session on February the 9th that is focused on how early career research has been impacted by the current global pandemic, how it has affected wellbeing, and how technology has met some of the challenges of the past year. We are also delighted to welcome keynote speaker, Professor Mathew (Mat) Hughes of Loughborough University. This session is free to ISBE members and available at a small charge for non-members. Prior registration is required via the ISBE website.
On February the 10th, a panel of expert speakers will consider the impact of COVID-19 on female entrepreneurship and how SMEs have had to adapt. Workshop participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their own practice and development, and will be invited to submit a paper to a special issue of the Information Systems Frontier journal. Further details are available at https://isbe.org.uk/female_entrepreneurship/
We are excited to host a publication workshop webinar on February the 17th, led by Professor Susan Marlow and Dr Lorna Treanor. This is a unique opportunity to improve your writing skills and raise your publication profile, receiving personalised feedback on your research from a team of facilitators who have published in ABS 3 and 4 star journals, with research experience across a diverse range of issues/methodologies alongside extensive editorial/reviewing experience. Papers must be submitted by January the 25th. To register, and for more information, please visit https://isbe.org.uk/publication-workshop-17feb/

PhD congratulations
Many congratulations and best wishes to long-time ISBE supporters, Dr Simon Bridge and Dr Breda O''Dwyer, who have both recently been awarded their PhDs.
Dr Simon Bridge passed his PhD viva voce examination in December for a thesis titled "Questioning Conventional Enterprise Wisdom". His external examiner was Prof David Storey (another ISBE stalwart, Fellow and founding member), and his internal examiner was Prof Colm O Gorman, who is also a past ISBE attendee. Simon has attended every ISBE conference since 1985 - can anyone beat this record?
Dr Breda O'Dwyer, a member of the Executive of the Board of Trustees of the Institute and Vice-President for Education and Learning, successfully defended her doctoral thesis in July last year at Ulster University. A senior member of staff at Munster Technological University in Ireland, Breda has been at the forefront of research and practice in entrepreneurship education for many years. The focus of her research was an Investigation into the Entrepreneurial Mind-Set of the Entrepreneurship Educator. A novel outcome of her thesis was the development of a Narrative-Based Empirical Model of the entrepreneurial mind-set developmental process of the entrepreneurship educator. While at times a challenging learning process, Breda acknowledged that the successful defence of her thesis was for her the fulfilment of a life-long dream. Massive congratulations to Breda on her achievement. Now let's have the publications.
