Worldwide Gmail Bounce Issues Setting Members To Vacation: Part 2

Worldwide Gmail Bounce Issues: Check if you’re on vacation mode!

Below is a previous email that I sent out in regards to the Gmail Worldwide Crash that has set traffic site members to vaction status.

At this writing, I have gone through ALL 300+ Safelist Sites that I own to run a MySQL Query to set ALL members that were on Vacation to "Active." I was absolutely amazed! There were AT LEAST 100,000+ members that were set to Vacation due to Gmail Bounces!!!

I don't know if Gmail has completely fixed their issues or not, but by setting everyone on Vacation back to "Active" will allow those that are legitimately bouncing to go back to Vacation.

If Gmail has NOT completely fixed this, I may have to run this query again in a few days. Again, below is what I sent out about this latest crash by Gmail:

Hi there, it’s Dave Mosher in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX again. If you’ve noticed strange things happening in the past 24 hours or so, Gmail had some major issues on a Global Scale, causing accounts to show as not valid, and causing massive email bounces.

If you’re a member of any traffic site that has a “bounce mod,” there’s a good chance that 1 or more of your accounts have been set to vacation status. This affects all sites, not just mine.

This may even affect receiving any verification emails when you join a site. We’ve had a few members submit support tickets stating they have not received a verification email.

While it sounds like they may have things back under control, it could still take a day or two before your emails stop bouncing.

So this week, I would start logging into sites where you have a membership to make sure you take yourself off vacation mode (if you were placed on vacation)…and check again in a few days just to be sure.

On 70% of my sites, it’s good to log in at least once a month just to make sure your account remains active and you receive any monthly ads.

A good rule of thumb is to have 1 gmail address for every 20 to 30 traffic sites that you belong to, as gmail does limit the amount of mail you can send/receive by minute, hour, and day. If you reach those limits, gmail will throttle your account, causing emails to bounce.
