Maria Mendiluce, Managing Director of WBCSD´s Climate & Energy, Cities & Mobility and Circular Economy Programs, explains this year's failure to raise ambition, along with WBCSD´s role and what gives reason for hope when looking towards COP26. How business in India can make the switch to electric vehicle fleets

In partnership with the Government of India, WBCSD launched a new "India Business Guide to EV Adoption" during COP25 in Madrid. WBCSD has been working with India's EV value chain under its REmobility workstream since 2018 and the guide brings together practical experiences and expertise in EV fleet transition, identifying three of the most scalable use-cases for business and EV fleet adoption.

An integrated energy strategy sets out how a company can achieve its energy-related financial and environmental objectives across its entire value chain. WBCSD and leading companies formalize the Corporate Mobility Pact with the City of Lisbon

WBCSD, the City of Lisbon , BCSD Portugal and 56 leading companies and institutions took an important step by signing the first-ever Corporate Mobility Pact (CMP). The CMP, announced by the Lisbon Mayor Fernando Medina during WBCSD's 2019 Council Meeting, catalyzes business leadership and aims to accelerate the transformation of urban mobility. Stakeholders of the pact have committed to over 200 mobility actions to make mobility more sustainable in Lisbon.

 
 
 
 

Insider Perspective: The United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights 2019

During the 8th UN Forum on Business and Human Rights, around 2,000 representatives of government, business, human rights experts, activists and civil society organizations came together in Geneva. WBCSD hosted a side-event in collaboration with Nestlé and Business Fights Poverty, on how technology can increase transparency in business operations and supply chains, give workers a voice and ensure the integrity of work contracts, and reduce the risk of modern slavery.

 
 
 
 

WBCSD appoints new China Director

WBCSD has appointed Wei Dong Zhou as the new Director of its China office to strengthen WBCSD's impact and capability in China. Wei Dong Zhou has more than 20 years of experience working across the Chinese government and in the not-for-profit sector, as well as in state-owned and multinational companies. In this role with WBCSD, Mr Zhou will provide regional input and represent WBCSD at national events and external stakeholder engagement opportunities.

 
 
 
 

Tire Industry Project releases 2019 Global End-of-Life-Tire Management report

The Tire Industry Project (TIP) has published its 2019 report on the global state of End-of-Life Tire (ELT) management. With data on ELT management practices from 45 countries, the report updates an earlier TIP ELT report - published in January 2018 - and contributes toward the TIP objective of advancing ELT management globally through the identification and sharing of best practices.

 
 
 
 

Improving understanding of sustainability disclosure by aligning taxonomy

WBCSD's Reporting Exchange and Carrots & Sticks are two leading initiatives that provide resources to help audiences understand the environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosure landscape. To help policy actors and companies get the most out of these databases, the two initiatives have aligned taxonomy and terminology so content is consistently categorized and easier to access.

 
 
 
 

Insider perspective: FERMA Forum

The Federation of European Risk Managers Associations (FERMA) held its biennial Forum in Berlin from 17 - 20 November. Over 1,700 risk and insurance professionals gathered together to increase their understanding and awareness of potential future risks. WBCSD took the opportunity to help educate mainstream risk and insurance professionals about the need to integrate ESG considerations into existing business processes to ensure long-term resilience and competitiveness.
