This interactive course is led by experts in research, assessment and treatment of body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). The course trains you to identify clinical features of BDD and accurately differentiate it from other conditions that present in similar ways.

Topics include how to:

Assess and enhance motivation for treatment
Develop a personalized cognitive behavioral model for patients with BDD
Apply cognitive-, behavioral, and acceptance-based skills to treat BDD
Manage common pitfalls in treatment, such as poor motivation and depression

This interactive course offers an overview of evidence-based psychological treatments for eating disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. Drs. Kamryn T. Eddy and Jennifer J. Thomas, Co-Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program, will serve as the primary faculty for this course. First, Drs. Eddy and Thomas will discuss the key components of a comprehensive eating disorder assessment, including freely available self-report measures of eating disorder psychopathology. Next, Dr. Eddy will present the basic tenets and three phases of family-based treatment (FBT), an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Finally, Dr. Thomas will present the basic tenets and four stages of enhanced cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT-E), an evidence-based treatment for adults with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and related presentations.

Specialized knowledge is necessary to tailor treatments to reproductive events such as pregnancy and pregnancy planning, the postpartum, breastfeeding, the menopausal transition, and menstrual cycle related mood dysregulation.

Week 1: Major Depressive Disorder in Pregnancy and the Postpartum

• Describe critical research findings in reproductive psychiatry that inform clinical care

• Recognize the current knowledge gaps in reproductive neuroscience with respect to perinatal depression

• Receive an update regarding reproductive safety of psychiatric medication during pregnancy and management strategies for screening and treatment of postpartum depression

This interactive online course provides an orientation and overview of how to use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) skills in clinical work with children.

If you work with children in your practice, it is important to develop the skills necessary to adapt CBT for use with this age group. And there are few postgraduate educational opportunities that focus on this specific skill set.

This course is led by child psychology experts who help you adapt CBT principles to clinical work with children. They provide an overview of CBT goals and techniques, and an in-depth review of behavioral and cognitive interventions. Course content covers how to conduct assessments, develop case conceptualizations, modify cognitive and behavioral techniques for use with children, measure progress with validated tools, and address relapse prevention. This course will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in women across the reproductive lifespan. Specialized knowledge is necessary to tailor treatments to reproductive events such as pregnancy and pregnancy planning, the postpartum, breastfeeding, the menopausal transition, and menstrual cycle related mood dysregulation. Exposure to psychotropic medications and the consequence of untreated psychiatric disorders must be considered when treating pregnant women, those who may become pregnant during treatment, and those who are breastfeeding.

Up to date and comprehensive knowledge is required to help patients make collaborative and individualized treatment decisions. Focused material will also be presented regarding the treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder and premenstrual mood exacerbation, as well as treatment considerations for the menopausal transition. Learning in this course will be facilitated by didactic materials delivered by the faculty from the MGH Center for Women''s Mental Health. Faculty will also provide question and answer and case-based discussion sessions for course participants. Readings to accompany course materials will also be provided.

This multi-week course will focus on cognitive-behavioral therapy for hoarding disorder. Participants will be provided with information on the most recent hoarding psychopathology research that informs treatment. The course will subsequently break down the various therapeutic techniques used in CBT for hoarding into weekly modules. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This interactive course offers an overview of evidence-based psychological treatments for eating disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. Drs. Kamryn T. Eddy and Jennifer J. Thomas, Co-Directors of the Massachusetts General Hospital Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program, will serve as the primary faculty for this course. First, Drs. Eddy and Thomas will discuss the key components of a comprehensive eating disorder assessment, including freely available self-report measures of eating disorder psychopathology. Next, Dr. Eddy will present the basic tenets and three phases of family-based treatment (FBT), an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Finally, Dr. Thomas will present the basic tenets and four stages of enhanced cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT-E), an evidence-based treatment for adults with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and related presentations.

All content and assignments can be completed whenever your schedule allows. This interactive online course provides an orientation and overview of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). These skills are useful for clinicians in all practice settings across mental health, primary care, social work, and psychology.

Studies show that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions including anxiety and depression.

This course is led by psychology experts who will describe how and when CBT skills can be used in clinical practice. They introduce basic techniques and core features of session structure. Course content also covers how to work with patients to engage them in treatment and set goals, how to conduct cognitive therapy and use advanced cognitive techniques. It also includes information about how to incorporate behavioral techniques, such as exposure and response prevention, how to incorporate mindfulness into CBT, and how to use relapse prevention strategies.

The course includes an array of resources, videos and other materials to enhance the learning experience. All content and assignments can be completed at any time. Weekly call-in times allow faculty to hear and respond to questions directly, and an interactive discussion board lets participants post questions and interact with peers from across the United States and around the world. Plus, the course is accessible via desktop, laptop, smartphone or tablet.

Course materials are available beginning on July 6, 2020, and all online course work must be completed by August 14, 2020.

Dr. Edwin Raffi is a board certified psychiatrist at the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Center for Women’s Mental Health, and an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He completed his psychiatry residency training at Harvard Medical School’s South Shore Adult Psychiatry Residency Program and his fellowship in Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry at the MGH Center for Women’s Mental Health.

Dr. Raffi’s areas of interest include:

Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry, Addiction and Substance Use Disorders, Geriatric Psychiatry, Trauma, Mind Body Medicine, Health and Technology.

He is a recipient of the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry 2016 Harry C. and Maida Solomon Award for his work related to substance use disorder in veterans. Between 2015-2016, he spearheaded a one-year project to implement the MGH-Benson-Henry Institute’s Mind-Body Program into a VA residential program for Women with PTSD and Substance Use Disorder. Dr. Raffi has published academic work in topics related to treatment of mood and anxiety in women, menstrual cycle related mood and anxiety disorders, addiction psychiatry, comorbid trauma and mood disorders. Due to his interest in Perinatal and Reproductive psychiatry, he joined the MGH’s Center for Women’s Mental Health where he continues his clinical and academic career.

Dr. Baker received her MD from the University of Virginia, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society for her excellence in scholarship and professionalism. She completed her residency in general psychiatry at Columbia University, serving as Chief Resident. There, she was distinguished for her compassion, empathy and excellence in psychiatry with the Barbara S. Liskin Award. Dr. Baker trained in child and adolescent psychiatry at the combined program of Columbia and Cornell Universities.

Dr. Baker then served on the faculty at Columbia University Medical Center in the Department of Psychiatry prior to moving to Boston where she is now a staff psychiatrist with the Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry Clinical Research Program at MGH, with an appointment as an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Her current research has focused on the course and treatment of ADHD in women during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Dr. Baker received her Bachelor of Science and Arts at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

This course will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in women across the reproductive lifespan. Specialized knowledge is necessary to tailor treatments to reproductive events such as pregnancy and pregnancy planning, the postpartum, breastfeeding, the menopausal transition, and menstrual cycle related mood dysregulation. Exposure to psychotropic medications and the consequence of untreated psychiatric disorders must be considered when treating pregnant women, those who may become pregnant during treatment, and those who are breastfeeding. Up to date and comprehensive knowledge is required to help patients make collaborative and individualized treatment decisions. Focused material will also be presented regarding the treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder and premenstrual mood exacerbation, as well as treatment considerations for the menopausal transition. Learning in this course will be facilitated by didactic materials delivered by the faculty from the MGH Center for Women''s Mental Health. Faculty will also provide question and answer and case-based discussion sessions for course participants. Readings to accompany course materials will also be provided.
