If you remember, yesterday we talked a little bit about what business used to be like. I wanted to go into a little bit more detail today though. Early on in my career I met someone who had made improved versions of the Microsoft Office programs. He had worked for years writing code and going through product development and refining the system again and again.

Eventually when he found his way to the company where I was working, he wanted to take his product to market but had spent most of his money on development. The consequence? He ended up not being able to sell his product and consequently wasted several years and hundreds of thousands of dollars. To recoup his losses he sold his software to Microsoft who paid him pennies on the dollar and now uses many of his ideas.

To me this story was my breaking point.  Here was a man who had put so much sweat equity into his business and it amounted basically to nothing. I knew then and there that I had to make a difference. There had to be some way to allow small businesses to compete directly with the Fortune 500. Fortunately I found that solution and I’m happy to say that you’re becoming part of this business revolution story. The good news is that with any good story, there’s always conflict resolution.

This is always the part of the story that gets me most excited; now we get to talk about you! You see, after having worked for so long helping the “Apples” and the “Microsofts” of the world get ahead, I found out my passion was small businesses. I wanted to help ambitious revolutionaries change the world, each in their own small way.

It was around this time when I started learning more and more about e-commerce and how accessible it could be for most anyone. So far we’ve talked about what the business landscape used to look like and what it looks like now. We’ve covered my discovery of e-commerce and how that can be leveraged to put you on par with Fortune 500 businesses. Not all of this has happened overnight though.

As with anything there is a big learning curve. Even though I saw the potential almost immediately, I didn’t figure out how to make Shopify themes overnight. It took me even longer to figure out how to implement them successfully. However, after a lot of hard work and diligence, I’ve figured out how to do exactly what I started out to do: grow small businesses.

Needless to say, I’m really excited to be working with you; you could even say that it is a dream come true. There’s no doubt in my mind that you can compete and even beat some of the biggest companies out there. All it will take is a little focus but I know it will be worthwhile.
